17 MILE DRIVE CALIFORNIA PACIFIC COAST HIGHWAY IN HYMER AKTIV CAMPER VAN - My all time favorite drives is the California Pacific Coast Highway road trip between San Francisco, to Monterey, Pacific Grove, Lovers Point Pacific Grove, then down through 17 Mile Drive Pebble Beach California, then Big Sur. The 17 Mile Drive California video shows the cost to get in and also the Lone Cypress tree. I highly recommend the Pacific Coast Highway road trip (also known as PCH road trip), which is on State Route 1, also known as Pacific Coast Highway. Just be careful of the size of your rig (maybe a campervan is the best) when you make the California Coast road trip as there are sharp turns and windy roads. I was taking it slow even in my Hymer camper van. Carmel is usually great but it was very congested that day on our California road trip.

Wonderful video. I love San Francisco and Pacific Coast Highway. It is a spectacular part of California. I been twice to California stayed with a local family for a month as a kid and then I returned many decades later. It has really changed alot really built up. I remember the farm lands from the 80s. I don't like driving in cities either, too many crazy drivers. It is such a stunning bridge Golden Gate. I hope we return again. We would love to explore further North past San Francisco we only made it to Muir Woods and Sausalito. We would love to drive from Mexican border up to Oregon.

I've heard now that it's like way too dangerous to camp at the S.F. visitor center due to break ins/car jackings...it's just getting worse there but I really do want to go see San Francisco and I plan on it. I probably will rent a hotel that night anyways...hopefully it all works out...going up the PCH very soon...all the way up to seattle...car camp style!

Wow - one of my favorite drives! So glad you had a good experience. I have mixed feelings about aquariums - the educational director at the one here raises awareness in hundreds of kids every day about trash in the ocean, rising temperatures in the water as well as the air, over fishing, and so many things - but I don't know if the value is worth capturing living creatures. It's a difficult subject. We walk by and have enjoyed couple of visits but have concerns along the lines of those which you expressed. Beautiful video - well done.

Big Sur is just beautiful!! And you are right Hwy 1 is full of curves, but it is such a lovely drive. Random question...do you think having Lilly with you helps in feeling secure at night when you park in overlook spots? My time to head West is quickly approaching...hopefully the first week of January. I’m thinking those first couple of nights on the road might be interesting...lol
