The Love Season | Just Like Yesterday

“Language is not a barrier for love.”
In 1989, Tabinda Sheikh immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic and got a job in a New York City hotel as a housekeeper. It was there that she caught the eye of a fellow employee who was working behind the hotel’s front desk- her future husband, Tariq Sheikh. This is the story of how they fell in love, with the help of a Spanish-to-English dictionary and a moonlit park bench.

It irritates me that you came away with that. She never said she slept. She said he slept, and because she didn't want to disturb him, she didn't move once he'd fallen asleep. She appreciated the stars and the moon and the fact that her fella was comfortable enough to be vulnerable and sleep when he was so tired from working the hotel and taxi jobs. Maybe work on your listening skills if you care to.

She likely accepted Islam during their courtship or after marriage. Muslim men are allowed to marry Christian or Jewish women as they are but she likely accepted Islam within their courtship or after marriage which was common then and even now. My professor (Syrian man) married his wife an American Caucasian woman and she accepted Islam within 10 years of their marriage and she doesn’t cover per her choice. But other women embrace it :) Their story is beautiful 💕
