This is outright my favorite mud effect from any company. When I ran out of my European Mud this week, I figured it was time to try out some of the other colors in Vallejo's Diorama FX!
This week, we will test Vallejo European Mud, Russian Mud, and Brown Mud!!!!

Love how you deliver the info in a no frills way while still being entertaining to watch! Feels like hanging with a buddy while he shares thoughts on products he likes 👍

Agree 100%. Too often video creators drone on and on, probably with good intentions...they want to make sure they cover everything. Sadly, that often leads to them repeating themselves or something along those lines. Like Goldilocks, your video wasn't too short or too long. It was just the right length. That's what she said.

I personally think that the 'Russian Thick Mud' is the best out of them all, due to the fact you can add basing material to it to make it as packed as you want. The others seem to be already packed with a bit too much basing material which doesn't give you much room to work with.

I would love a follow-up video with you trying to match the results with a DIY method. Or come up with something altogether new.

Couldn´t agree more. I live in a country where not even XPS foam is available. I watch various youtubers to gather ideas and try to convert them into what I can get here to make something similar. I would also be a very interesting series of videos to see the process of trial and error until getting something somewhat near the original product.

Nice comparison! I'd love to see a base/model where you've actually used two or three of the colors together to get some variety, just to see what that looks like. Maybe for next time. :)

Have you tried the Ammo Mig turned earth ground product? If so would really be interested to hear thoughts on which is better to work with for building out custom bases.

To me, the difference is a matter of the location. I live in Northern California and am a little more than an hour inland from the coast. The mud here is somewhere between the Russian and the Brown. But in the coastal areas, the Russian is closer to what I see. The type of substrate and water quality make the difference.

I agree with you, I live in northern nevada and that yellow mud is almost a perfect match for here after it rains or snows.

Could this be used for brick or stone? Could paint color be added to change the color of mud? Can you paint over mud?Thank you for the demo.

I agree, he mentions dry brushing for highlighting, also a dark wash for shadowing. Since its an acrylic I'm assuming you could had color to it to change its base color - lighter or dark. Maybe a pigment would work, powders instead of a liquid.

I believe they're water based acrylic products, so you should be absolutely fine without a mask

Nope, you don't have to! Our products are water-based acrylics, so there are no strong odors, they won't harm your lungs and you can use them anywhere without needing a well-ventilated space! ✨

Well. Russian one looks like it should. It's a black soil that really common in that places. if you start highlighting it, it will look unnatural. Unless you want to make it look like a bird crap 😂
