I am actually surprised that people understand "write what you know" any other way than that. I always thought it's more about emotional "knowledge" that any other one, as everything else (especially these days) can be easily researched. Write what you know you feel, because that is why we write at all, aren't we, to move other people with emotions. Nevertheless, great video as always!

Ok yes, I see my mistake here. I meant more that she basically lived with her family the rest of her life but I didn’t make that clear. - Tim

She was the Rowling of her time, hardly a role model for writers if you ask me.

A good role model for writers is--_drumroll_--a good writer. Her personality or worldview is irrelevant in the matter, just as Rowling's worldview is irrelevant regarding whether or not Harry Potter is good.

Why do you need to see her as a role model? She wrote stories that are loved even today. The "role model" as you call it, is simply writing a story that readers love.

I’m curious. Why was Jane Austen the JK Rowling of her time? Thanks.
