Holley conflates comparing players' current play with comparing players' legacies. The latter is easy and obvious--you have stats and 20/20 hindsight; the former is harder, requires an eye-test and context for both eras.

Why do we have to change peoples sentiments when they make a statement? Why is that when SVG says they’re the best offensive backcourt it turns into a resume comparison instead of a talent conversation? When ppl say Ant reminds them of MJ it turns into Will Ant be the next MJ or be the face of the league? One of my biggest sports media pet leaves is ppl turning things into something else like they don’t know what people meant or what actually happened

because legacies are defined and bolstered by awards; these guys have votes but don't watch all of the teams; awards can effect how players get paid; propaganda drives Vegas betting--it's all a racket. And c'mon, it wasn't like just 1 person made the comparison between Ant and MJ--it was an ESPN talking point ffs!
