I personally don't care what other's think they don't pay my bills. I been with black women in my life and I can tell you it was one of the most positive experiences I have ever had. To know a woman that is taking a chance and wants to be with you despite your color or what other's think is a motivational tool for me to love her all the more and to make her know how much I appreciate her in my life. I don't try to figure out why or how other people think about the mixing of color....that's their demon that they have to work out within themselves. My heart belongs to her and not others. Eboni & Jesse I can totally relate. I am in a BW-WM marriage and they do that to us all the time. It's like they are obsessed with our racial differences. We use it as comic relief. It's Eileen - yeah that’s the impression i get from what I’ve read. I’ve heard Texas, Florida, and Georgia are diverse and accepting of interracial relationships, mixed people, and diversity (though it might be the bigger cities within those states rather than rural towns).

Im a native Texan, so I get where you're coming from! My husband and I got stares in Houston all the time(we each blame the other for being too hot), but if you say "Hi" or "Good afternoon" loudly, home training will kick in and they'll speak and scurry along. My husband is a 6'4, 270lb. ginger with a background in martial arts; I'm a 5'10, curvy former combat medic with a resting b!tch face few want directed their way. Oddly enough, when we were together no one said a thing to us. When my husband was alone? Guys(usually young black guys) were always picking fights with him, and he had to thump quite a few heads. I never had to deal with it myself-guess the stereotype worked in my favor and nobody wanted to bother with a potentially angry black female. -_- I trained in Chicago(GL-Navy!), and I believe that since it has the military presence(diverse people training together) and has a more metropolitan way of life, no one looks twice at IR couples there. We live in Idaho now, and so far haven't had an issue at all. No matter where you go, you'll never escape the idiots of the world. As long as you love, support and have each other's back, everything will work out well. Great topic, and keep 'em coming!

More liberal isn't exactly racism free, and even New York and Chicago have their issues as well. Houston has the distinction of being the most ethnically diverse and ethnically segregated city in America. My husband had problems mainly with younger black guys(Twitter generation) and older black guys(the type that experienced real racism and has a grudge). My husband is the nicest man, but apparently he's big, built, and walks like he runs sh!t, so of course, people need to try to fight him. Many think white men are pushovers and can't fight, but my husband was raised in the hood-a big, pale ginger with a speech impediment. Needless to say, he got to expert level in fighting quick. Things have gotten much better since we've moved and the only fighting my husband does now are sanctioned martial arts or pro/am cage fights.

Bohemian Rhapsody Thanks for your kind words! It's true that IR couples are more prevalent, but there's still something about WM/BW couples that trigger a larger reaction than BM/WW couples do. Some don't understand the level of commitment you have to have being in an interracial relationship-is the love of this person worth all that may come to you? Loss of family, friends, coworkers possibly talking behind your back, potential racist antics/fights from strangers? Not once did I ever have to consider any of this with the black guys I've dated. If my husband didn't meet or exceed all that and more, I wouldn't have married him. That to me is true love, complete with a solid foundation.

Seriously, Houston being the most segregated city in America...? Been to Houston many times and frankly it is nowhere as segregated as say a Chicago (once the most segregated northern city in the US) or especially LA. All cities as you eluded to earlier have their racial issues, but Houston seems to be a fairly even tempered city when it comes to race.

Back in 1969, I met my girlfriend in College. I'm Japanese and she was White. I was never attracted to other nationalities but she asked me out. I grew up in a Barrio and she grew up in an all White neighborhood. The first time her mother met me she said, "Quick! Get him into the backyard before the neighbors see!". When ever we went out, we got stared at a lot. There were some restaurants where they wouldn't serve us. Finally her mother told her "I'd rather see you die in a car accident than go out with him!" When her mother tried to bar her from seeing me, her father stepped in and said his daughter could go out with anyone who made her happy. The kicker was, he was a WWII Veteran who had been captured by the Japanese. BTW, this all happened in Southern California, land of Liberals. After that, all my girlfriend were White because they asked me out. However, when I married, it was to another Japanese. The reason? Japanese think different. There's a saying among Japanese. It not what we say that counts. It's what we don't say. In other words, it takes a Japanese to understand another Japanese.

Where I live in Mississippi some ppl don't really care what your nationality is. They don't see color. They don't care. But that is the part I live at. But there are some cities here that you you'll get those stares. I'm teenager btw but I have never dated before. I don't know why ppl are so surprised when the see two different nationalities dating. 😂😂😂. Im observant. I see the kids around me dating and they'll date whoever. He or she could be white, black, Hispanic, etc. and they don't see color.
