So enlightening. I was on a Amtrax train going from Chicago to Oakland. I was 18 and couldn't afford a sleeper. When I approached my seat in coach. There was a guy in it. I showed him my ticket. He ignored me. I showed the conductor and he confirmed it was my seat. The guy ignored him also. Remember I said "I was 18?" It was on. He had some kind of a death wish as far as I was concerned. But, an older (Brother) two seats down intervened and suggested I take the empty seat next to him rather than do what I was fixin to do. I did. We became train buddies and rode ALL THE WAY to California in peace. Paul

As a former gate-girly, you def have the ok from me to blame me for any seat mishap to ease tension. Also, I sat in the wrong seat cause I was looking at my old stand by ticket and I felt so dumb cause of all the people why am I not in the right seat ??

12:58 facts! I’ve seen some very unfavorable attitudes from FA towards pax in wrong seats. I always apologize for the oversight, check both pax passes, refresh seat map app and not even mention the agent …typically pax are already heated about something else the gate agent didn’t do right so no need to escalate those feelings lol 😂

Excellent catch! You go! This is something most employees would never catch in a million years. Not only can they maybe not see it but yes the pride issue and many people are nervous and antsy getting on a plane so they just sit down and think "Ok hopefully I am in the correct place and if I am not someone will correct me." This is something they should be teaching the new flight attendants about as well. People may not be seeing the numbers.. etc

I remember one time I was taking an American flight from SFO-JFK. There’s a JetBlue flight to JFK that departs at the same time. The FA was wondering why two people had Seat 18A. Turns out the gate agent wasn’t paying attention and boarded the JetBlue passenger on the American flight. I am guessing the JetBlue passenger booked their ticket through American. On a recent flight from LAX-SFO a passenger got confused about where she was sitting. She didn’t understand English.

A language barrier is definitely another reason why people sit in the wrong seat 🫣

Funny thing is before I became a flight attendant the only airline I flew on was Southwest. On my way to my interview for my now airline (not southwest) I literally sat in a random seat and the flight attendant was like WTH is wrong with you?! Lol. I felt so embarrassed but I think because I was nervous/excited about the interview it just completely went over my head when I got on. & I never really flew that much before. So I’m more understanding about silly mistakes because I’ve done the same before lol.

Haha, I definitely do my best to keep calm at work 🧘🏿♀️😌 Some people have a fear of flying / anxiety at the airport so the least I can do is have patience.
