As someone from the gta (Missisauga) and born and raised here (I’ve never left North America) I’ve had so much racist shit happen to me and my family as of recently especially , where we have to be careful now when we live our lives and prove that we’re Canadian. This is my only home I don’t know anything else ,yet I’m constantly being convinced it’s my fault for being brown or I’m being racist for thinking this way, and it’s not talked about a lot so I don’t know what I’m feeling is valid , thank you for showing me that it is and that their are good people in this world who see this and won’t let it slide , Thank you Paris ❤

I remember when I started my first real job, McDonalds. There was a bunch of us training all around 15 and it happened to be that we were all Hispanic. An older African American lady came in with her grandchildren and she got upset with me for not being able to do something. It was my first day and they literally had newbies training other newbies. But she started going off an all of us saying she hoped Trump won and sent us all back to Mexico and a bunch of other racist remarks. I was truly astonished. It’s sad to say there’s a bunch of racists within each race when we should be sticking together ☹️

Lol this reminds me of a time when my mom & I were in line at Walmart to cash my check. There was only one cash handler & the line was HUGE, so it was slow moving even though the lady was moving as fast as she could. The handler was a Somali woman. This AA woman in front of my mom & I started loudly speaking down about Somalian people then turned back at us smilingly, clearly expecting some sort of camaraderie. We looked at her like she was a mad smaddy & she looked SO shocked/embarrassed like she never thought she’d get that type of reaction from fellow Black people. Like you said, we don’t want people to do it to us so I’m not projecting that xenophobic/intolerant BS onto anyone else. And little did she know, we were foreigners too so ??? People need to get their shit together fr. I can’t believe this woman did all that knowing she was wrong.
