Literally your ulta sounds spot on to the ulta I worked at. I literally just quit the other week because I was so over it

I completely understand where you are coming from Chloe. Was working at Ulta and I had a very similar experience. Managers "cherry picking" employees for higher positions based upon how many credit cards they sell which results in an unnecessary competition between all employees. If management does not believe you are going to be a "fit" for a management position they will either 1. Fire you. 2. Put you on infinite go-back duty until you quit. Basically no second chances in their mindsets. On top of that other co-workers will treat you differently because of your "lower" position almost as if they themselves own Ulta and you are their slave. Very toxic feeling to have. Finally, with the earpieces my manager does the exact same thing and I know for a fact one of the managers is back in the office regularly watching employees do their duties because one of them will suddenly say my name as well even when they are not around me. Creepy. Overall, an extremely negative work environment with an unnecessary competitive edge with low pay. Please go look to work someplace else.

i was so happy getting hired in October at ulta. lucky the managers i work with currently aren’t horrible, but the hours are trash . we get paid every 2 weeks so 16 hrs is not cutting it. they’re starting to just get annoying.
@chloeknorth3 жыл бұрын
Ughhh I’m sorry love. My experience was similar but tbh my management was just very bad and there was lots of favoritism w hours idk if your store is like that but the hours were there they just were distributed selectively..

U can’t live off of 16 hours! That’s crazy

I'm watching videos right now on why people quit ulta because ulta just did some shady ass shit to me and I am FURIOUS. it was all bad management, I was furloughed and my manager told me she would bring me back when things were better. Well got a letter in the mail that wasn't even delivered to my address, it was delivered to my grandparents house??? But basically my manager "apparently" tried to contact me numerous times and she was never able to reach me so she resigned me. SHE HAS MY NUMBER AND MY ADDRESS. shady as hell

My manager was also very shitty to me. She did the exact same shit your manager was doing to you. I have a new job now, so I'm thankful for being away from such a toxic work life
@chloeknorth4 жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you got away from that! Ugh it was the worst environment and they hire terrible upper management. No wonder Ulta is always hiring they scare the good employees away!

Your video popped up on my home page and I know it’d from two years ago and I just gotta say, as a current ulta employee none of the core structure of how ulta as a store functions has changed, like everything you said is spot on, I got so fed up with it, they don’t give me enough hrs they never promote from within, im so unappreciated, finally I decided I’m only gonna work two days a week for a few hrs, so that I can make time to work a full time job, they were just never going to promote me to something past beauty advisor, anyways I just had to share that.

Ughhh that makes me so annoyed that the same BS is still happening years later. I was really hoping that my store was a fluke and not everybody is dealing with that, but I am so sorry! It has the potential to be such a great company I don’t know why they don’t do more internal investigations into stores like this.

Sorry you had to experience this. YOU WOULDVE HATED SALLY BEAUTY!!!!! An absolute nightmare from micromanagement all day none stop competition between stores in the same demographics while having different goals and targets customer service giving bad customers fuel to attack associates not having any control to make complaints right have to go through a chain of commands promotions chasing on a daily basis planograms constantly changing being watched on the clock from corporate the entire day having to stand at the front door not talking to coworkers while on the clock just to name a few but biggest issue was inventory/truck… never work there.

Some people say that they absolutely love their store and I’m sure there are wonderful stores out there for you! But yeah for real girl. I kind of have a theory though that I had such a bad experience because I worked at a high-volume store in Los Angeles and a lot of people who work and make up in Los Angeles are just not very nice lol..

Make a copy of th check and frame the copy for sentimental reasons. Then cash that itty bitty check and spend it on eggs. Let them sit outside for a week. Find out where she lives. U know what to do next. NO DONT DO ThAT! Of course I'm totally joking. I actually wrote another update on my experience working there but I deleted it when it occurred to me that it's too likely someone there could find my comment and it could come back to me. I admire u coming out and speaking about your experience. But I still work there and am trying to keep from verbalized any minor complaints I've experienced so far. Still nothing like the nightmare u experienced :)
@chloeknorth3 жыл бұрын
Haha I feel that response! I understand that you’re not really in a position to speak up right this moment and I definitely could not have when I was employed. I also would not have. I was professional while I was there but I think spreading awareness is important if and when you do leave a bad work environment. One of my close friends just got a job there a few months ago and loves it. In a different state not at the same store but people definitely have good experiences as well. ❤️🔥 hopefully yours improves! It’s a really cool job if you have good management and if you don’t it’s a disaster.

Yeah I definitely feel like they should do a deep dive into their business practices. Corporate was only sort of helpful the fire in process for my store manager was very slow and because of that I think there was a lot of damage that could have been prevented.
