You could just drill 2 holes in the back of that plastic board. Then bend 2 pieces of coat-hanger wire into squared-off S-hooks (like the tops of the provided hooks, but on both ends). Then, just HANG the back of the board on the hooks. The board would never come off the hooks unless you lifted it up. Why they choose that design just boggles my mind. That's the kind of design that employees do when they hate their boss. 😂

ha! I do think your suggestion would make it far more stable. Using just the included hooks, it moves a lot during use, which is a bit sketchy when you've got a stove on it. :)

Does your Subaru have blind spot sensors? If so, does the box interfere with it.

My Forester does not have blind spot sensors (2010). Where are the sensors located? If under the rear bumper, my guess is that the Stowaway might indeed block them. A raised hitch probably wouldn’t help either, sadly. Cannot confirm, though. Might be worth an email to Stowaway’s customer service.
