As a old Stowmarket boy Iam suprised at how much the old town has altered as i have lived in Ipswich since 1960 but my heart is still in Stow. shame about the old school it would have made a great center for the arts. well done Don and good luck with your book. p.s What happened to the sandpit on Newton road it was a great playgroung.

Takers lane poem makes sense as it would have been a short cut through from the river gipping to town/combs ford before relief road built. Lots of trees and scrub to hide in before the new houses next to river were built!

Absolutly facinating - I was searching for OG Barnards, Station Road (because my Dad worked there as the Commercial Sales Manager in the 60's) & this video came up. I lived at Chilton Hall, a farm which I believe is now a housing estate. Was there 'til the early 70's. There's hardly anything I recognise in this video but me being a child at that time probably explains it though the street at 20:09 looked like the main street?
