Great Video. Looking forward to your next venture downstream. The River Gipping Trust are working on navigation restoration, the first section will be Needham Market to Bosmere with lock gates at Creeting and Pipps Ford. Once done navigation will be expanded from there. Love to see a drone shot of the new footbridge across the river at Baylham….. ian petchey, Restoration Manager, River Gipping Trust.

Walked this route yesterday. Part of the path is closed between Stowmarket and Needham. Very overgrown and almost impassable in some areas. Got stung about a 1000 times. Took us 5h 20m from Stowmarket to Yarmouth Road.

I canoed from Stowmarket to Needham as a venture scout in 84 or 85. The river was definitely in a more polluted state then.

Correction. Needham Market to Baylham. That’s the section we are working on to restore navigation first.

Great video. I'm surprised you got as far as you did. I live in Stowmarket, that river is very shallow and blocked! I didn't think there was right of way in Stowmarket. I know you cant go from Stowmarket to Rattlesden. Was this this year (2022)?
