A good Dr can do it in one surgery Everytime.

Interesting. There mustn’t be many good ones out there Considering the number of people we see after having had multiple surgeries. Besides, knowing actually that the surgery does nothing to change how the brain functions and that shortening the muscle to produce forced alignment is really a cosmetic procedure, it would be easy to see why that happens.

I’m 16 I really don’t want to wait another 20 years to get my exotropia gone I’m so insecure about it, I don’t think I’ll be able to pay for vision therapy though do you reccomend any eye exercises I can do my right eye tends to be the ‘lazy eye’ my vision is blurry without glasses to

Unfortunately we cant give recommendations firstly on KZbin comments and secondly without an appropriate evaluation of what is going on with you. We recommend getting a parent or guardian involved if available. And also, we hope it wouldn't be 20 years if you are currently 16.

I had Amblyopia, esotropia in my left eye, which I fixed with Squant surgery seven years ago. However, my vision is still low, and my eye sometimes becomes misaligned when I get tired. Please help me, how can I improve my vision and prevent the misalignment permanently? I am 23 now!

Hi there. Short of having another surgery which has a poor track record, you will need vision therapy. You will likely also improve other aspects of your vision while at it. You are welcome to schedule a consultation with Dr. Steinhauer to discuss your case and treatment options at www.visionforlifeworks.com. We look forward to seeing you on the schedule!

It's strange that so many healthcare insurance companies do not cover vision therapy and doctors do not recommend it to patients. This is much similar to chiropractic treatment which is better than physiotherapy, but doctors do not recommend it.

Spot on. The odd part is they have no problem paying for glasses (which we could peddle but have no desire to) 👓 or surgery. They’ll catch up eventually…hopefully soon. Ha. I guess your KZbin name fits you. 😆 Thanks for the comment.

For some reason I can see well and focus all the time but I really have to strain to do it sometimes and it's only my left eye. Then the muscles in my left eye start pulling like crazy and always feel tight and uncomfortable. My right eye always feels normal though. is that weird? I've tried Neurolens and Prism lenses and those both make the feeling even worse. But the only thing that works for me now is to cover the left eye with a patch, which sucks because my vision is otherwise very good. Everytime I get my eyes checked they say they are healthy though so I don't know what to do. I just want my left eye to act normal again.

Hi there, This is something we can likely help with. But to know for certain you’ll need a consultation with Dr. Julie. Have you had surgery before?

@@thebuzzkiller69 okay. Just checking but it wouldn’t matter anyway. Many people still come to us after surgery failed to fix their issue or made it worse. You are welcome to schedule a consultation to speak with Dr. Steinhauer. In fact we recently shared a testimonial on our list about a patient who described the exact pulling sensation which made even driving difficult and now longer has it.

Hi I have same problem here but I never had a strabismus surgery before. I just see an optometrist today to get a referral to Opthamologist. She said the strabismus surgery will not fix the amblyopia and it will be a cosmetic surgery which means insurance will not cover it. Is that true? And I said I want to still meet Opthamologist. I want to hear what the ophthalmologist says.
@visontherapy

For the most part, this is accurate. Surgery might make amblyopia worse because that's not the objective of the surgery, and even still we see a lot of patients who after several unsuccessful surgeries still need to get their alignment corrected. Prisms arent recommended either. Can't comment on the insurance part, however.

Yeah I’m 40, I have had 2 surgeries. Suffice it to say it didn’t work. Starting to think again though about a 3rd just bc yes what if it works this time? But the surgeons know the deal they even say, it’s a coin toss. It’s a brain thing. But the vision therapy is so expensive and as you said not covered by insurance.

Two questions. If you are doing this remotely then are materials such as glasses sent to you? What is the usual length of time for vision therapy, i.e 6 months to 1 year? I had strabismus surgery at 4 and I am currently 64. Definitely renember doing green light/red light exercises as a child. During pandemic I stopped wearing cobtacts and was given multifocal glasses. Between that and being under severe stress I started having visual distortion. Earlier this year I had lasik surgery so no longer extremely nearsighted (now use reading glasses but didn't before). It also corrected astigmatism which has made stairs simple again. I have esotropia (pretty well-controlled), but my eyes work independently not together. Opthalmologist was pushing prisms and said vision therapy might make it worse. I understood the Lasik wouldn't correct this.

Hi Lisa, there are many things to address in your comment so ultimately a consultation is most advisable. However just touching on some of them: the program length will depend on what is being worked on and will typically be either 20 or 45 weeks which with all the things you've mentioned will likely be the latter. It will require more than just filters and more than red and green. And yes everything gets sent to you and an assigned therapist alongside myself to support you. As for VT making it worse, that's very interesting considering our channel is full of comments from members of the public and video case studies from us that prove the opposite. Ultimately you need the underlying condition resolved of which you appear to have several things going on and not a Band-Aid which will need to keep getting larger and larger due to prism accommodation. Too much to get into here but can do so in a more focused 1hr consultation. To schedule one, please us at visit www.visionforlifeworks.com. Looking forward to seeing you on the schedule!

Hi there, we work with people from many countries and have worked with people from Poland. The best thing to do is to schedule a consultation to chat about your case. That should help us figure out what is possible for you with your case and with language.
