The Synapse like the Scott are perfect for all roads, from wicked fast group rides to gravel grinders. It does it all. Smoother has always been faster. Being comfortable brings back the joy of cycling. It’s always been about your fitness not the bike. The rest is in your head.

Great video! Funny how you mentioned how no rider could attack on those gravel roads, and as we saw, Van der Poel di d just that! Must be his mtn. biking pedaling skills which kept the traction. He's a machine! A big powerful young man!

Wider road tires make sense when doing the race, but when riding these roads for fun I'd go for fast rolling gravel tires set up tubeless. Descending would much more enjoyable and easier. Great video!

Do you know the average tire widht of the pros at this stage? Is 28 or even 30 mm?

@@Hansmeiser2008 , my guess is that tire width will vary from 28 up to 32, depending on a rider's weight, but also on wet or dry conditions. Sadly though, it is most likely the race will be cancelled because of covid 19.

Great video, very nicely presented and shot. My wife and I did our own Tour of Tuscany last summer from Pisa to Florence, Siena and Bibbona. It was a fabulous cycling holiday made even better when my wife got a QOM on a particularly gnarly gravel section 😁👍🏻🚴‍♀️ Definitely to be recommended.

Don’t need a fancy endurance bike to ride the roads around Siena. Decades ago, I remember it was fine with a Vitus 979 frame and ordinary 23C tires.

No. = tubular, not tubless, that is what the pros use!
