Pro tip for anyone struggling getting silicone hoses on. A little bit of soapy water on the inside of the lip makes it waaaay easier to slide them on

Do88 makes awesome parts! I have 2 SAAB's that use their intercooler and have been blown away at the performance of their product! On my 2007 9-3 Aero 2.8T i did gradual tests to see what helps lower intake temps on the car and started off with a stock intake and intercooler system. I have routed charge pipes away from the exhaust and engine and have amazing intake temps now. My car is tuned as well. Stock system on pulls i would see insane temps of nearly 160-175 degree intake temps on a long 3rd and 4th pull, with the do88 and re routed charge pipes i barely see 12-15 degrees above ambient on the same long 3rd and 4th gear pulls! And thats in the dead middle of a hot summer. These intercoolers are insanely efficient!

From Sweden here so i would have gotten one if i drove alittle longer distances. Was thinking the heat dont have alot of time to buildup as i dont drive on track and also drive quite short distances. Instead i decided to put the money on some good looks instead: so i bought the Integrated Enginering carbon fiber intake with both the intake & carbon cover. Probably the best looking intake for the GTI if you ask me. But performance wise idont think it does anything as im just Stage 1. But who knows, iguess only if one would dyno it?

The stock location ICs tend to flow substantially better than any of the FMIC offerings, including ARM, GTI Jake’s, and definitely the (horrible) Neuspeed. This means less pressure drop and less work for the turbo. Add this benefit with the larger core that better resists heat soak if you actually track your car, or live in the hot and dirty southern states like I do. 👌 🧊 DO88 is one of the best and lightest stock location ICs for our cars, hence EQT’s preference for them. 😋

What are your thoughts about the tires you are running? i think they're the falken rt-615k? was looking at those and the fk510 but since I drive quite a bit I'm wondering how long they'll last.

good thread life imo. 615k will be a bit quieter than a rt660 tire but with a bit less grip

I've been running it for a couple of years. The top of the IC I had to zip tie to the radiator otherwise the radiator is not supported properly. The read a random post that one of the turning vanes inside the IC was loose (improperly welded) inside theirs....I just checked mine and it's nice and tight. I'd check yours before install just for peace of mind. Overall it's OK for an IS38 IMO. I do think an IE intercooler would be better, but also much more expensive.
