Can we not condescendingly criticize people for doing nice things for their partners? Like, every time a girl says something nice about their boyfriend for doing a simple nice thing, we get people saying “OMG YIKES GET SOME STANDARDS THE BAR IS ON THE FLOOR R/ARETHESTRAIGHTSOKAY”- like, dude, you are bashing this girl for appreciating a nice thing, and you’re treating the guy like an abuser or someone who’s not doing enough for his partner when _you don’t even know them._ This phenomenon is pretty toxic in itself. What does it accomplish? We can acknowledge the simple positive things people do for their partners _and also_ work to create a more positive culture in relationships.
@HikaruCrystal8
@HikaruCrystal8 3 жыл бұрын
@@Dreigonix If someone is moved to the point of tears because their partner did something slightly positive for them, that will probably lead me to question how this person treats them on a normal basis for them to think that what their partner did was the epitome of kindness. Normally, idc ab these sorts of things. I only really notice in a situation where someone is EXTREMELY in shock an awe of their partner when all they did was a very simple considerate act (replacing the toilet paper, paying them a compliment, doing their own dishes, i.e. things a person would already be doing if they had at least one considerate bone in their body). People should 100% have a higher standard than that in their relationships.

@@Sam-zu5mr I don't think brutal sexual violation is an appropriate response, especially since cheating is its own punishment, but I agree that people should just break up if they're not into their partner. Communication saves everyone a lot of trouble. My ex-wife (and best friend) cheated on me when we were dating, and I did blow up at first, but then we sat down and talked about it, and I suggested we have an open relationship, and that made us happy and healthy for ten years. They knew they could talk to me, and I knew they would be honest, so everything that was a problem before went away. Compared to if they had just kept cheating, we both would have been miserable, them terrified of being found out and feeling guilty, and me paranoid and feeling rejected. So I always say: Communicate!!
@Sam-zu5mr
@Sam-zu5mr 3 жыл бұрын
@@Queer_Nerd_For_Human_Justice fair enough reply, every relationship is different I guess. But I'm a believer of not cheating full stop. If my partner cheated on me just once, I would end it there and then. I dont live with my partner, but we trust each other never to do that to each other. Yes communication is key to a happy relationship, but infidelity must be addressed. Iv had a relationship in the past where it's not working and iv had temporary separation from them to give us freedom and breathing space, that does work sometimes, but for me personally it didn't and me and my ex stayed seperated. But I dont like cheating full stop. Talk it through and if it's not working out then break up officially. It's for the best some times. Cheating is not the answer.

Cute old people story time: My nana and papa have been married for 56 years. 2020 was the first time he was in hospital properly (he has pancreatic cancer and has had an op and is coming home this week 😊). Anyway, my nana has been properly worried and is the first time on her own and is coping okay even with not being able to see people an awful lot. My papa was in High Dependency Unit over Xmas which also co-insides with his birthday and their anniversary. My nana hid his cards in his bag so he could open them when he was well enough. They phone each other every day to update each other on news etc. It's super cute. Kinda rambly but I just wanted to share how cute their relationship is and how sucky situations can still have positive things in them. I love them both and can't wait for him to come home so they can finally be reunited 💛

I don’t even use pads, but one time this girl came up to me and whispered “do you by any chance have a pad?” And I was like, “I have tampons, would that work?” And she made this helpless face like “oh... no, but thanks anyway...” and I decided right then that I would never again allow my fellow female to go thru that struggle in my presence again. Look man, I understand you're joking with the adoption stuff, just wanna give a friendly note right now. Buying a child is probably one of the worst things you can say about adoption in a joke type way - this is a real issue since adoption does have origins (and still has ties to) child trafficking. This is the reason for closed adoptions being a common thing (an entirely different problem in itself - never have a closed adoption because it's terrible for the childs mental health), it was easier to mark child trafficking as 'closed adoption' back in the day, which is where the concept comes from. I'm not saying that a child with abusive birth parents shouldn't be kept away from them if that's in their best interest, but otherwise, contact and knowledge is very important. I know I personally have problems with feeling like a commodity. Kids in the foster care system are usually prioritised by how 'pretty' they are when getting adopted - a white, blonde, assigned female at birth, young child with no 'problems or trauma' (though I'd say that adoption without trauma is almost impossible) are usually prioritised (or at least up until 2007 in the UK, around the time when the care system was fighting to have me taken away from my foster carers/adoptive parents because I was one of these 'lucky' children, even though these are the only parents I knew and they're amazing people either way). I'm really not trying to go after y'all, but to be honest, I was really uncomfortable watching that part of the video. If you're interested in finding out more, I'd suggest maybe taking a look at some of the adoptee run instagram pages (the bumbling adoptee is great, and they follow a lot of people you can also check out), or maybe check out the daily bastardette (though I'll admit they're a bit difficult to follow).

I want to thank you for all you're videos. I had many questions about Transgender individuals and you helped me see how some comments are offensive and why. I am autistic so I often need explanations to avoid mis understandings, I need to understand to properly comport myself. You have helped me be more open minded and understanding of other people. You reacting to others and making videos about how you see straight people is amazing for me. You are a safe place to go to and i want you to know you helped this ex transphobe see my wrong doings. Thank you.

5:30 a promise ring is essentially just a promise to make an effort and take the relationship very seriously, so kind of like a pre-engagement ring in a sense, so you can only wear one if you are already in a relationship. The Jonas brothers wore a purity ring which signifies abstinence and you don't have to be in a relationship to wear one. (A bunch of disney stars wore them btw, not just the jonas brothers, I'm pretty sure selena gomez, demi lovato and miley cyrus also wore them)

I WAITED THE 8 HOURS LIKE I SAID AND IT IS HERE AT LAST! it was super great and hilarious. I totally agree on the old couple thing, love them to death. Whenever my mum talks about her dad and her mum, it’s literally so cute because he loved her so much and they were together for SOOOO long! Like until she died I think. And he never got over her (she died from cancer.) My mum says he used to keep around a sweater of hers and like hold it and literally cry into it because he missed her so much after she was gone. Real sad :/ but when they were alive, cute as hell together! Another blessed video that brightened my day tho so thanks Noah!

ok just gonna quickly provide another perspective-- yeah, the bar for straight cis men is on the floor, but I also think it's nice when someone's appreciative of the little things in life. it's nice to express gratitude, & honestly it encourages your partner to keep up the generosity. like I get what you guys were saying & you were punching it up for comedic effect & whatever, I 100% agree. I just wanted to add this to the conversation too :)

That's true shit! My mom keeps a "feminine hygiene" shelf in the main bathroom for guests. There's a framed sign with a flower fairy on it. It's adorable. But yeah! You never know when someone's going to have some kind of bathroom emergency. If you're around hundred of people normally, like if you're at university or a convention or something, you should also keep a fistful of stuff in your bag, like tampons, pads, condoms, and first aid stuff, because if someone comes to you for help, you can help them! Keeping menstruation tools in your bathroom for guests is also a solid bro move.
