This is what happens when a mad engineer decides to put the engine and running gear from a Supercharged V8 Jaguar XJR into the body of a 1966 Mk2 Jaguar. This baddass crazy machine not only looks mean but the noise it makes is simply incredible ! A huge thanks to Mark and his brother Simon for inviting me over to drive the car. What a complete hoot we had !

The error over the Mk2/S type is not Peters fault. We have always known it as a Mk2 S-Type & have just called it ‘The Mk2’ which is what we told Peter. Just remember it’s a car intended to be a bit of fun, rather than an example of a true classic.

evomark4077 All fully appreciated and understood...just that when you get a bunch of car nuts together, intense detail takes over! Happy driving...my 1969 XJ6 returns from an unplanned 5 months at Jaguar Land Rover Heritage maybe next week...after a big mechanical overhaul, it should be better than it ever has been..I hope!! Safe driving! 😀😀😀

Agreed, but still ok to point out that it is an S-type. We S-type owners (1965 3.4S here) need the attention we can get for our cars as we are always in the shadow of the more popular Mk2 :-) So why not change the title and description of the video to say S-type and not Mk2? Cool and interesting car and video!
@team3383
@team3383 4 жыл бұрын
@@Aquariuz60 Because MK2 will et more views - simples. you say it yourself the S type gets less attention. I wouldn't bother mind you because a grown man acting like a teenager (20seconds in) when presenting and driving the car really doesn't help this video. Nor does the mat black paint and wheel arches. Just bad taste and too much money here.

The S type was a different car longer and handled way better than the MK2 as they had coil spring suspension which was fully independent lifted from the E type in truth the criminal fraternity preferred the S type over the Mk2

The guy who constructed the XJR - 'S' type did a build series over about 25 videos & posted it all on KZbin. His name is Mick Hunt & the build started about 6 years ago. It was called the Draguar..! IIRC., it had a bonnet mascot 'leaper' made from small pieces of scrap metal! I wondered what had happened to it. Nice to see it still on the road & being appreciated! (BTW to the haters, that 'S' type started as an empty shell saved from the crusher).

Had a 1964 Jag sedan in the mid'70s just for the joy (uh, experience) of rebuilding the 3.4. My brother-in-law refinished the walnut so I wouldn't get my greasy mechanic's hands all over it, while I took on the cylinder head, welding out the valve inserts and boxing in my home oven to heat the head while cooling the new inserts in dry-ice. By the time I had the head back together and the valves properly shimed a racing buddy made me an offer I couldn't refuse, and the rest of the rebuild was done several states away in Virginia. I never saw the finished car, but my love for Jaguars (looking at them, not rebuilding them!) has lasted ever since. Nice car, but glad it isn't in my garage.

the whole point behind Classics is that "they dont make 'em like that any more". THAT is a large part of the attraction. Changing them so that they are more comfortable to "live with" is acceptable (if you keep the original parts) but pimping is akin to going to church in a bikini. No Peter, its normally a 3.4, 3.8 or 4.2 but I digress.. The S type was always the best looking MK2 so a great base. Like the stance, undecided on the paint colour, and the finish looks rough as on the front, but frankly its the arches that let it down .. go full body colour John Steed XJ and it would look stunning. Appreciate the bags for the stance, but the XJR suspension was already one of the best riding cars ever, plush but could also handle. I owned 2 XJR's the last one being an R1 and i nearly cried when I moved to Mallorca and had to sell it. The grunt & whine when the supercharger kicks in never gets old!! If only my XJR sounded like yours it would have been perfect if antisocial LOL. Great project an absolute beast! 👌

That's so funny. I was looking at the side profile and thought it looked a tad "odd". It didn't look like a genuine Mk2 Jag. Something was wrong with it. The rear end is too long for a Mk2. Mk2 boots are much shorter and slope down quite quickly. As for the interior. It is far, far to modern. Definitely NOT a Mk2. Though from the windscreen forwards, it does look like a Mk2. So all in all, it seems to be a "cut-and-shut" car. Bit of a bastard, so to speak. Definitely not a true Mk2. Still. It looks good and sounds scary :-))...

I had a 6 cylinder camaro that sounded like that when it would get a leaky exhaust header. I think what a Brit thinks sounds healthy and what a USA car sounds like are two different things

Me and a buddie installed a set of headers on my 305 v8 chevy truck. The stock exhaust pipe wouldnt fit so i drove it to the local muffler shop to get some welding done on it. Driving through el paso with open headers was fun!

That being said, I LOVE this Jag, an love the flares, though sculpted would have my vote. I dunno, I'm not a fan of "bold-on" flares in any application.

Fortunately it‘s an S-Type, which looks like a MK2 from the front, but has the rear suspension subsystem used in E-Types and XJ‘s. Not outdated even today.

I am at 1mn 24 sec, but I firmly believe that the rear wheel setup, flare and all, makes sense only if rear independent suspension is installed. Now let’s keep going.

Wow me too I thought it was just me always thinking about that leather smell, and the push button start.. My family had 2 MK2's in the 70's, 1 of them we used to bring to Jaguar shows and win awards.

In 1970, a friend of mine, Bob Alexander, took a beautiful 1966 Mk2, red leather interior, and put a 327 V8 with a 3 spd auto, and it was a very nice ride, sadly when Bob sold it on, for $3000 US, I passed. Car was put out into Massachusetts cruel winters and met sad end.

Hi I remember 1977 my brother had the MRk2 He called it LUCIFER it was silver on the outside and RED interior He also put a HUGE motor had his mate engineered the frame to hold the powerful motor (excuse my mechanical expression hehehe) can't remember was it a V8 or a 351?????? He told me a story how powerful it was that it jumped on the footpath while he was driving on the road. I remember holding the handbrake up and two feet on the brakes and it was still moving lol It was powerful He told he had to get rid of it as the car had a mind of its own (LUCIFER!!!!!) 💕 Australia Jag fan

Nice car with a nice sound. In Aus we have been putting 350 Chev engines in the series 2 for 30 years or more now the LS 3 chev 6 ltr are a perfect swap with over 600 hp on E95 so we are doing it environmentally responsibly and easy to swap
