Just wanted to say thanks for a great video I've watched several times and finally got up the courage to try shaving with a straight razor...I have been old school wet shaving for a few years now and really enjoy it also I have even grown a beard and have been successful with it however I could never seem to get a decent line on my beard until I came across your video demonstrating how to line up a beard with a straight razor at first I did nick myself a few times but once I develop the correct technique for using the straight razor I got an awesome lining on my beard again thanks so much for this fantastic video!

@BeardedExistence7 жыл бұрын
Thomas Diaz thanks for watching i had to think about it I don’t really use my left hand with the razor. It’s tough getting the angles right looking in the mirror. You can practice using that same gel but stay way above your line the gel will create a white line where you stop and that can be what you use to get your practice in and see what you like before you actually dig into your beard

That being said my mustache as getting long enough where it's starting to go into my mouth. Not sure how to line it up with out making it look funny. Even looking at alot of videos. Question, does that gel help you preventing you from cutting yourself with the straight razor? I actually saw that product in the store and was tempted to get it but was unsure if it was for the purpose helping with me lining my beard and reducing cuts
@BeardedExistence5 жыл бұрын
Donte Carroll it will help the razor slide a lot smoother which means less cuts razor burns and irritation. It also helps to protect the skin from the blade. If you give it a try let me know what you think!👍🏾👊🏾

Any tips on how to straighten my beard hairs...like the left side of my bear my hairs go and grow straight down but on my left side they grow down, left, right and everywhere...like are there any beard oils or tips to help me out..I'm Asian but able to grow a full beard but just not in all the same directions ..
@BeardedExistence8 жыл бұрын
sysda1 time and length will probably help the most you could use a blow dryer but that would only be temporary and over use could damage your beard. A beard balm will help a lot you just have to find the right one to help train your hair. If you have tried one and didn't get the results you were looking for switch brands or find a stiffer balm with better hold.

i have trouble being precise when using my left hand though. So the right side of my face always looks sharper... I'm no good with the left hand darn it. What do u use for an itchy beard?
@comicbookprodigy9957 жыл бұрын
Andy P When using a straight razor, it is common to use your dominant hand the whole time. Simply just reach your opposite hand over your head to pull the skin tight and be patient. To avoid itch, use a boar brush once in the morning to exfoliate and apply beard oil after.

Ricky D I think it’s going to come down to preference I have both and they both do a great job. The styliner 2 is a little longer so when you want to get your hand out of the way to be able to see what you are doing it helps a little and the T blade makes trimming around the mustache and in corners a lot easier. The small weight difference won’t matter to you if your only doing your own and not cutting all day. Andis makes great clippers I don’t think you can go wrong and the replacement blades aren’t that expensive 👊🏾

this DEFEATS THE entire purpose of a beard. as you were saying, every hair has a purpose. in fact, they are all NERVES. you will mess up and diminish your vision it is actually much better and healthier to just keep a trimmed low beard all around, but keeping ALL NATURAL LINES. Don't forget.. the purpose is to let your nerves express through your body.. and not to destroy them.. unnecessarily. never lose that concept.
