Exactly what I needed to hear for the stage I am at. The transparency of Shirley's words are still resonating with me. Finding out what it truly means to live as an artist has given me the tools to reassess my life. Only I can determine where I'm going, no one else. Plan the work, then work the plan. Gotta go now..... gotta get a plan.

Shirley Williams Your "straight talk" about being an artist was great for helping me make up my mind about what direction to head in; so far I think I'm on track :-)

I love your videos. It is so helpful to hear from other artists about what it takes to be a professional artist. I wish I'd had this info 10 or 15 years ago!

Thank you for this amazing video! Your channel is so interesting and helpful especially for the young artists! In general artists don't have a lot of knowledge about the marketing. The information we receive from your videos are a starting point for a better understanding of this business. Keep up the good work! xxx

Hi there I am an artist and live in France , in a little town but very famous for its artistic connections to the impressionists and proximity of Paris. I have an " atelier d'artist' as we call it here , a gallery own by an artist where we sell our own work. I have it for 7 years and was so tree led for a while, the whole idea helped me to skip galleries and their rules. Now I ' ve started to have a feeling that I am a bit stuck and need to enlarge my area of selling and vitalize the whole process of sales. I found this interview very helpful and I would like to hear from the artists who have the same situation , how you guys find your ways and your advises. And thank you again so much for doing this series of interviews , great help! Merci!

Hi. I've one question about the pricing method. Shirley says that she calculates the price per linear inch. What is the linear inch, it's that measure from lhe lower left corner to the upper right corner? This question might look absurd, but I'm not American and I'm not familiar with those measuring scales. Thanks.

Hi Jorge - Yes you are correct. The calculation is the Width + Height x $Rate. It works in cm also. Just adjust your $Rate for canvas, paper etc.

That was a great interview. A little distracted by whatever that was in the background. A pet? Optical illusion? But then I refocused. (Smile)

am i the only one who sees the insurgent baby rat scampering over the hardwood floors in the background?
