I didn’t vote for Trump, nor do I agree with everything he’s said or done, though I don’t have a problem with much of his domestic policy. One thing I think he did wrong in this speech, is that it seems presumptuous to me to comment on tragic events in even allied countries, unless it’s simply to offer understanding and support. To offer unsolicited advice and suggestions on another country’s domestic policy, to me, is arrogant and presumes that our policy is any better than the other country’s. I do offer my support and send healing energies to all those effected by yesterday’s attacks, and as an American Marine from Boston, I stand beside my English brothers and sisters in solidarity and the desire that the full weight of justice is visited on the perpetrators.

I don’t think Trump was insinuating that the US is better than the UK in terms of safety. The murder rate in the US is so much higher than the UK’s and probably ever will. He was simply stating a severe problem London is facing that has to be addressed. London murder rate surpassed NYC’s this year in part due to the non ending knife crime and youths carrying them to protect themselves because they’re scared.

Three attackers. 11 dead. Contained within SEVEN minutes by the police. The 2017 Las Vegas shooting began at 10.05pm (or 9.59pm if you include Jesus Campos). By 10.15pm 58 people were dead. The police were unable to access the hotel room until 11.20pm. Just one attacker. 58 dead. Attacker stopped by his own suicide, or if we're being charitable to the police, after 1 hour and 15 minutes.

You are twice as lively to survive a knife attack, than a gunshot wound. It is also incredibly difficult to commit mass murder with a knife- in the London bridge attack last year, 3 attackers killed 11 people... I wonder how much devastating it could have been if they had access to semi-automatic rifles? Meanwhile in Las Vegas, one guy managed to kill 58 people from his hotel balcony... And don't get me started on how many children have been killed in American high schools in the past decade. "2 million lives saved"- I find statistics like that laughable; pulling numbers from an alternate reality is all well and good- but don't expect those figured to be taken seriously.
