I admire you so much!!! I sometimes wish I can move to a cabin somewhere far from the hustle and bustle of the city. I do have some questions: How does the doggie cope with this weather? What do you do to take him out for his walks to poop or pee? Do you buy foods for him in bulk for these days where you are snowed in? Or do you make him home foods? What is the cost of living as far as utilities living like you do? Do you use wifi or have internet? What is your plan in case of a health emergency? Thanks and stay safe!!!

Being you live in dangerous temps and burn wood you are always at risk for a house fire. I hope you have a small Out building with a wood stove and a supply of dry wood or some other form of heat and shelter in case your home caught fire when its -40. You need to have some back up for that scenario! If you and your puppy had to exit in an emergency you wouldnt last long with out heat and shelter. Maybe even store some warm cloths, old blankets and boots in a metal drum and a few supplies to get by for a day or so.

A battery heater and keeping your fuel tank topped off is good to do. The fuel tank can get condensation if there is empty space in it so it’s best to keep it topped off. Also you can get a complete car cover that is heated they use them in cold environments especially in Russia. I test vehicles in extreme cold weather in northern Manitoba Canada.

I'm in Yuma AZ -- gas is 4:49 gallon
@richardoakley64602 жыл бұрын
In the UK I currently pay £1.57 for a litre of Super Unleaded (99 Octane E5), this converts to £7.08 per UK galleon. There are 1.2 UK galleons to a US galleon therefore we pay £5.90 for the equivalent volume or $7.96 for one of your galleons! The really annoying thing is the price of Brent crude produced 100 miles away is $90.08 for 42 galleons do not know if they are UK or US I suspect US, therefore $2.14 a galleon, the rest is tax. Anyway great video and really pleased to know you are surviving.
@AloneinRemoteAlaska2 жыл бұрын
It's great to hear from viewers across the pond! I am surviving with a smile! :-) But if these gas prices don't start going down grrr!! Today is July 19, 2022. I live in Las Vegas, NV. We have had our typical 110-112 degree everyday summer so far. What I would give to be there in the cold. I envy you, but admire your perseverance. Keep it up, girl. Also, if you haven't already, try putting full synthetic oil in your car. Also, have you considered maybe installing a pully system for your fire wood sled? it would make your life much easier on those days when there is 2-3 ft. of snow and you wouldn't need to drag it back to the door. Keep posting, your videos really are inspiring!

Suggestion get an automatic maintainer battery charger and hook it up to your car battery, and leave it turned on all the time that you don't use your vehicle, take it off when you are using the vehicle this will keep the battery full charged when ever you need it.. keep it in your car when you are using the car to travel to the store or locally. I have many on all my battery's on all my equipment trucks, tractors and equipment that sits alot. I also use solor chargers, but with lots of snow and little light they are not really recommended. I thoroughly enjoy your channel and wish you the very best.

Hello. Gas prices here in Puerto Rico are $1.17 for litter. That is aproximatly 5 a galon. No public transportation on And Island that everything has to be ship in. You are doing very well on your first year. Next on spring a vegetable garden...good loct to you. You are very skill. I would like to know if its posible to collect watter from the rain. Now on summer comming

Hello Ana! Currently I am around $5 per gallon as well! Living on an island does have its issues sometimes! I do plan on a huge garden area but most likely next year! And a greenhouse! We do get a good supply of rain here so all of my buildings will eventually have rain catchment for sure! Thank you so much Ana! :-)

Ohhh yeah! Thank god for NAPA being in Alaska! I think NAPA is more important than many "other" (sorry no names) stores we have! :-) Engine block heater and a battery trickler on the list! Now if they only carried coffee creamer!! HA! :-)
I ALWAYS have trouble with frozen hoses!! Btw, that pageboy cap is just too adorable!!

It must be hard on your own, but I am sure you will conquer the difficulties that it will bring. Another channel on KZbin to follow could be for you Boss or the Swamp for their struggles at times.

Whenever you are jump starting anything. Always hook up the positive cable first and then the negative. When disconnecting always disconnect the negative first then the positive last. Why she asks? No sparks and the possibility of a fire.

Ahhh thank you! I'm working on a video about the people in Alaska next! Stay tuned! It's a full schedule for sure. I do still have a job (I can do from the cabin), working the property and doing KZbin! The KZbin part has got to be the most difficult :-) Thank you so much for joining my journey! Gas is going up to 10 per gallon in Florida

Did you just say $10 per gallon!!!! OMG!! We are still at just over $5 in Alaska! Everything is supposed to be more expensive here not in Florida! That's insane!

Just from my experience Always leave 3 or 4 logs on top of fire place so they dry better
@CherylHarpercompulsivespinner2 жыл бұрын
Great idea. We'll do that at our place.
@AloneinRemoteAlaska2 жыл бұрын
I have done exactly that. Not all the time but especially if the wood feels damp. I wont burn damp wood anymore! I also keep “the next” wood next to the wood stove to make it drier. Seems to work! I also have a drying rack hanging over my stove (you can see it in some videos) so I can dry wood and still cook.Thank you so much Owen! Pro tips are always appreciated! :-)

Good video Alone. I understand that it's your first winter there. I advise that you make careful notes to what you are learning about shortcomings in your current preparations so that you can be more prepared for the next winter. I hope that you have a generator. I'm amazed that you have grid power at such a remote location. Substantial water storage, I would think, would be a high priority for next year. In any case, best wishes to you.
@AloneinRemoteAlaska2 жыл бұрын
Yes when I decided to move to Alaska it was a mad rush to get here before winter. I had a short amount of time to stock up. I am frantically taking notes on everything I need to accomplish before next winter. It's a constant thought running through my brain :-) A Honda generator and a lithium battery generator is on my list to buy. Every single store I went to was out of stock. Very substantial water storage too! I can get water delivery to my cabin (similar to oil delivery) but the water storage containers left at the cabin had been sitting for 6 years with water in them so they need to be replaced. Being connected to the power grid was kind of a shock (no pun intended) to me too as that had to have cost some serious money to get it out here.
