We had planned it for awhile and he wanted to bring my stuff and help out with some projects. Such a good son! We had a great time and I did cry watching him walk into the airport. Kenai was a bit sad too. Thank you so much LaRue!

My son has been hilarious since the day he could walk and speak. All his life, he has been a moma's boy and helped and protected me. His visit will be one of my fondest memories because we just laughed the entire time and still got a lot of projects completed! Just wait until I show you what he did! It's not glamorous by any means but I am SO relieved that these projects have been done! It calms me. If he wasn't here to help, it would have taken me all year to do myself! And some I wouldn't do myself. Thank you so much Annette!

Oh my gosh, that was so sweet!!! Your son looks a lot like you, "Mom". You'll miss him but so nice you got to have a visit. I can't believe how expensive it was to get to Alaska!! That's a ton of money. Looking forward to seeing what haa been done in the cabin. Take good care, scratches for Kenai. x
@AloneinRemoteAlaska2 жыл бұрын
Of course Kenai got his scratches first! The trip would have been cheaper to go through Canada but I didn't want to take the chance of them turning him away at the border. I had one chance to get my stuff up here with my son's help. So three days on the ferry, hauling a big 26 ft Uhaul was pricey indeed! The improvements inside are so awesome (to me) and needed to be done before I could put my stuff away. And of course my son flew back before helping me do that part! But we had a fantastic time together!

Good job Son, that was awesome of you to help your Mom out like that. Hopefully you and your friend made some really good memories during your visit. Hope to see you visiting again later down the road. You may change your mind in 10 or 15 years, you are still young and everything tends to change in your head after 40. You did good with him Alone, being a young guy he seems to have himself put together quite well for 25. It is really nice to see someone so young in a skilled trade and prospering versus stuck in some indoctrination camp accumulating tens of thousands of dollars of debt. We need more like him in this world, that mindset.
@AloneinRemoteAlaska2 жыл бұрын
Marco! My son reads the comment section so he will read what you wrote to him! As for raising my son, he was always a good kid. Never really got into much trouble and enjoyed spending time with me fishing, camping and helping me in the garden. My dad was nice enough to take my son under his wing and teach him a trade that has been very good to his career. He is making more than enough money in Colorado and he just started his career! But I agree! More smart level headed kids that can think on their own is what this world needs!

My children said the same thing when I lived in Wheeler co. And I never seen them. It take me six hours to store's of needs and that's twelve hours of driving. By the time grandkids started I was missing out so I bought a Ranch three hours away on no man's land and a home in the city by my children were I now live and my homestead a vacation home. I so love my life God gives of such gifts.

From the stories I have heard from coworkers, grandkids are always important to grandmothers/grandfathers. Sometimes they mean more than the sons/daughters (that's just what I was told) I may not have any grandkids yet but I certainly understand the draw. At least you still have your homestead/vacation house and can still see your grandkids. That's so awesome! Thank you so much Sandy! 🧡🤗💚

Waking up and seeing a new video from you, that says "meet my son" - suddenly I was fresh in a second. I never thought I would sit here in Denmark, and feel such anticipation towards an alaska video. That is so weird. I guess I have followed you in all your aloneness for such a long time, that it could be fun to see you get some company. I live alone too, so I guess I understand a bit about it. I hope you can make a couple of videos of the work your son and his friend made - so we can see a bit more than two people sitting in a car talking. Oh and a video where Kenai gets company could be fun too. You have a sweet and honest son - and a fantastic smile/grin. It was great to hear you laugh out loud!
@AloneinRemoteAlaska2 жыл бұрын
My son has a tendency to make me laugh! We laughed almost the entire time he was here! I definitely will miss him. But I did get a ton of footage filmed! Probably enough to make 3 videos at least! And he helped with my grocery haul this year. The interview was planned so many times. Where we would be sitting etc. We just got SO busy we had no choice but to film it in the car just before he left. As for Kenai, he is not very dog friendly but he definitely enjoyed seeing my son again. So glad you enjoyed the video. I watch it over and over again and still laugh at myself. He will be in some future videos when I show the projects that were done. We had a great time and he always makes me laugh like that! The Uhaul was the biggest Uhaul and it did travel many miles but the ferry was a luxury. I didn't want him to get turned away at the Canadian border, so the ferry loved to charge for all that weight. I also got him and his roommate a big enough room for 4 people so they could have their own in room shower. It was expensive and I actually estimated it exactly. And that is why I could not get my balcony built this year!

The projects he did finally fixed up the last room I refused to use because it was "gross" and he removed the little plumbing there was. I raised my son to be happy in whatever he does in life. Even if he just wanted to work at a fast food place. I just love to see him happy! Thank you so much Jane!

Carol my son reads the comment section of my videos so he will definitely see your comment! I think he is good looking young man too! Better if he would take off that nose ring! KIDS!!🙄 I have so much to show you on what we did though! It's amazing! Now I can use every single room in my cabin and no longer have those "yucky" rooms! BUT I do have a lot of boxes to unpack and 6 cords of wood to stack! IF ONLY he could have stayed another two weeks! 🤣🤪 I miss him already but he will be back! Hi to you both! So good to see a video from you again, it seemed like forever! Glad to see, meet your son- he is a lot like you, and looks like you too. Kind of thought the video would be of you two sitting in your cabin by the wood stove, drinking coffee or hot tea, wasn't expecting it to be couped up inside the vehicle. But we sure will take it! Lol, we've just missed you that much. So Glad you had time with your son, hope his trip back to Colorado goes smoothly. We know you'll miss him so much! Til the next video, best wishes.

LOL! Yeah we had planned to make the video a few times! Lets sit over here to film! Lets go outside and film! Which background should we have? Then we just got too busy and said we will shoot the video tomorrow! You see how that ended up! Last minute before he got to the airport video! We did have a great time and basically the interaction you saw in this video was like that his entire trip. He is far more animated when not on camera though. I miss him already! It is good to be back with my KZbin family though! Thank you so much Charlotte! 🧡🤗💚

Hello mrs alone. I had fun to watch you and your son. Made me happy to see you so much laughing. I can totally understand your motherlove and longing to see your son more often. We live in Bali and our son lives in europe. Very rare possibility to see each other. I am happy for you that you got the help from your son and appreciate that he supported you in different ways to make your life easier in some aspects. Your relationship between you both is touching me. Loved to see the northern lights and the breathtaking mountains. I would really love to know your name to adress you more personally as a sister. And please continue to show more of your playful lighthearted side- you then shine. With love from Bali.

In reality we are only a few hours plane ride from them if something is wrong. I will be heading back south in a few days for the winter. Will spend the time getting the sawmill and skidloader in tip top shape for the next spring trip back here. Don't plan on working next summer except for me. Time to fulfill my dream, will be 71 next month. I can't believe how fast its gone by. But I am not quitting. Will go till the end. No rocking chair for me, that is a death sentence .

They are always welcome here and yeah I can be back in Colorado in 1/2 a day if needed. Same as if I lived in any other state. And we don't chose this life to sit back and relax! I just watched the video made of you building your counter in your kitchen I love it also I love that you treasure family heirlooms like the chandaler keep what matters to you .I would have left a comment on that video but I was not able . I want to tell you that using Tung oil is good however read all the instuructions on using it because how you despose of the rags to apply that product is very important not to ball up the rags but to open them up to the air and put them in a water bucket to keep them from getting hot and iginiteing. You may find doing all the finish outside to have the odor to gas off outdoors will be better for you.I worked in furniture refish with my dad for 20 yrs and he expressed taking care when working with tung oil finish highly flammable! while wet.

I love it when viewers give me great advise! I will read the instructions for sure and watch many videos on KZbin about it prior to using it! Taking the table outside will not be a possibility but I will make sure to wear protective gear and have plenty of ventilation. The doors, the windows and plenty of fans! Thank you so much Kelly!
