Ive used various light cycles. Some alternatives are *Veg cycle:* 6/6 Slows growth, keeps cuts/vegging plants smaller for longer. Plants get 12 hours pf darkness per day without going into flower. 6/2 Accelerates growth. Plants get 18 hours of light per day without stress. The dark periods give them a chance to convert some of the energy, which then allows them to take in more light. 15/9 for vegging plants before they go into flower. *Flower cycle:* 11/13 An extra hour of darkness lets the plants know they are in flower. It can also help with plants that dont want to finish and keep pushing outwhite hairs under12/12.
@tjrez6786Ай бұрын
The 18/6 works . It actually helps the trichromes to ripen and turn amber . It probably also stresses the plant a lil into makin more THC and thickening the flowers . I do it for 10 days and it works great :) . Same with Autos, I give them solid 24 right at the end . Im currently running my blueberry on 13/11 to see if it works .

I have a couple plants that I flipped to flower on Oct 6th. So 8 weeks should be Dec 6th. One has the biggest buds I've ever grown. My drying situation sucks but I can rent space in a Cannatrol at the local grow shop. But it's available starting the 8th. So I was planning on chopping down the plants the morning of the 8th. I've been worried about the trichomes being ready. You've got me thinking about running the last week with 18 hours of light.

@benjammin1212 very interesting. Where do you live? I live in Virginia by the Chesapeake Bay. I rent a room in a house with others who rent rooms and I don't have control of the temperature. The house has gas for heat so it dries out the air and it's too warm also. Bad combination for preserving terpenes. So I hope the Cannatrol will dry and cure my harvest. I can't buy the machine so I'm grateful for the local grow shop having one for rent. I have to take my herb there but that's no problem. I'm interested to know where you live. I love to travel. I've been to Europe 3 times, Belize, Panama, and I lived in Costa Rica for 9 years. I'm a strange hippy gringo because I speak Spanish fluently. If I can figure out how to support myself I plan on moving back to Central America to stay permanently. It sounds like you live in a desert. That's something I've never seen.

@comfortablynumb9342 hiya, I live in Spain , literally on the border between Valencia and Murcia, the coast is about a 45 minute drive away.. it's a desert region, that is nicknamed the Badlands as it resembles South Dakota.. so it hardly rains apart from when we get biblical amounts like a years worth in 8 hours ( which we just had ) Electricity prices here are one of the highest in Europe ,running air conditioning , dehumidifiers and fans etc is costly, I never grow outdoors as we get really high winds that carry dust or sand from Africa, plus the many marble and granite quarry's kick up dust like pumice, then there's the multitude of insects that will happily eat your plants.. I'm a Rasta, in fact I'm the only coloured person around ha ha. my dreadlocks are taller than your average Spaniard .

I"m a OG and back in the day when indoor growing and outdoor light depro was coming coming into play I remember some of the growers I knew were talking about a 9 on and 3 off cycle for veg and 6 on 6 off for flower. It never really took off but I wonder with today's tech and automation if a variant of this idea is something to look into, does anyone have any knowledge of anyone trying this?
@eliinthewolverinestate6729Ай бұрын
I have tried many timing tricks. Plants can reset with red light in just 3 hours of dark. If you have things dialed in with CO2 you can use 3 on and 3 off. I run 24/7 in veg. This makes less veg growth and more root growth. Roots grow day or night. A lot of veg growth is during dark hours. Plants always try to balance root and veg out. So going into flower with more root. The plant will grow more veg growth to balance itself with the roots. It's why some greenhouse plants look great. But in your garden they don't grow big. They stay same size almost while they grow roots. Like throwing a clone into flower too soon without enough roots.

Sounds like a 12 hour day not 24 hours day? Am I understanding that correctly?

I have given seedlings 17hr days and it doesn't work bad. 16hrs of light so they don't get to stressed out then lights put for 1hr just enough to keep em from stressing. I've done that the 1st few days then give them 24hrs light for about 8 days then go to the 18/6 light schedule for veg then 12/12 for flower the last 2 weeks slowly every day go from 12/12 to 14/10 14hrs darkness 10hrs light making the days shorter like 3omin incrimnts every few days

If you think about it, your plants outdoors will start flowering well before there's 12 hours of darkness. By that time it would be way too cold and dry in a lot of places. So why not try extending your day times if you have a few hours to play with.

I have played with a novel in my mind for years . I have always wondered about the limits of the light cycle . What happens when you steal an hour of light from a plant ? In my story the two boys start by removing an hour of light from their plants every week they reduce the 24 hour cycle by an additional hour . They ultimately discover the ability to look forward into time just enough to trade the stock markets and build a trust fund for their small town !
@Hansen710Ай бұрын
its the hours of darkness they count, if you use a asynkron timer (like dimlux have in their controllers) you can make the lenght of the day more or less whay you want
@Hansen710Ай бұрын
they count the hours of darkness, not the hours of light dimlux have asynkron timers in their controller, where you can do 12 hours darkness and 16 light for example the problem becomes your own sleep patern if the days are not the same lenght as yours with changing electricity prices, some of the schedules also cost the double also depends on strain, some haze you deffently dont want to play around with anything but short days much over 12 hours of light will make it take months longer

Depends what cultivars your working with a lot of told world equitorial varieties like 10 on 14 off schedule to properly finish and 12/12 normal some people like snow high prefer less then 1212 aswell it’s all how you want to grow modern cultivars have been made to have unnatural light schedules autos for sure are real freaks of nature other then some Iranian Russian etc Varieties there naturally faster flowering due to where they are from. But those are more for a specific grower most people these days are looking for stuff more popular

It's fine if people want to experiment with their on and off times during flowering. But why ? If there is a difference. It would be so minimal that in no way they could even see it. In my opinion, stressing your plant during flowering is ignorant. Why would you want to screw with something that is proven to work ? The only time I changed my light schedule was with my mothers and clones. When I use to grow my mothers and clones with 18/6 . Anytime I put a clone outside, it would start flowering. Because of the shorter light cycle. Eventually it would start revegging. But the plant would be all confused and it would grow like 💩. So I experimented with my on and off times. To see if I could stop this from happening. So for the past 20 years I have been growing my mother's and clones, indoors. With a 12 on 5 off 2 on 5 off. And that solved the problem. And it makes no difference in the growth rate of the mothers or the clones.
@doktorhunggari4415Ай бұрын
I agree 💯. Re-vegging before harvest is a bad idea.
