Hi Doug, You can also see that signal walk across the waterfall from right to left. 73 WJ3U

Hi Don! I saw two signals walking from right to left later in the video. But at other times when I heard the noise, I didn’t see those. Sometimes those signals are someone who is transmitting a constant carrier and measuring their SWR across the band. Interestingly, the Ionosonde usually measures between approximately 500kHz to 20Mhz. And the Ionosonde chirp signal spans left to right, as it starts at a lower frequency and gradually increases. So I think this is from some oscillator in some device, possibly near my house. But now I’m wondering if it is related to the New Jersey drones. Hi Hi!

Ionosonde sir I sometimes get this myself 💯👍
@n4hnhradio20 күн бұрын
It isn’t the Ionosonde. I’m very familiar with the Ionospheric sounder. It causes a quick chirp sound as it passes by the frequency you are tuned to. Furthermore, the Ionosonde is visible on the waterfall as it travels from left to right across the display. And the Ionosonde normally sweeps from 0.5MHz to 20MHz.

wonder if that noise is related to the solar storms?

Could be. This was a few months ago.

Hello sir. I am new to Ham radio hobby and I have FTDX-10 radio aslo. What really is a reason to have oscilloscope and AF-FFT function on the screen. And there settings are good for what?? This maybe a dumb question, sorry for that. Thanks for all your videos, very educational. Audio settings that you showed for FTDX10 are awesome and working grate for me with M70 microphone. 73.

I cover the use if the AF-FFT scope, and the oscilloscope, in my video tutorial series. There are 101 videos thus far. The video series, and much more, is available at www.Patreon.com/N4HNH. You must subscribe as S7 or S9. S9 has the most access.

I have been streaming 7200 using my LAN 10 and it’s interesting how bad that frequency is but yet just like channel 6 on 11 meters….

It’s sad what some have done to amateur radio.

The ionosonde transmitter is ok, but what is the squiggly noise? kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIiXloWHlt6IkKs I believe I heard the same kind of warbling noises back in 1980, and they typically are heard well during solar maximums on 10/11m.

I answer that in the video description. I often include extra information in the video description, just to measure whether people read video descriptions or not. People miss out on a plethora of information by not reading my video descriptions. More information unfolds in the comments as well.

Yeah, I've heard that sound before, too. I just assumed that it was some type of jamming (or maybe looking for something to jam) by one of 'those contries that care to do stuff like that...'. But, if YOU don't know what it is, I'm not sure that any of the rest of us would.

When the stereo system in my pickup is on, and I’m listening on HF with my FT-891, I occasionally hear a similar noise. As soon as I turn off the stereo system, the noise disappears. I must presume that the oscillator in the stereo causes the interference. So I presume that the noise in this video is from something in the vicinity of my home. I have heard the noise in suite a while. Perhaps it was something at a neighbor’s home.

@@n4hnhradio I just had a thought - wifi? Maybe it's the spread-spectrum causing that.
@n4hnhradio21 күн бұрын
Maybe, but my router has never been a problem. I’ve had it for 7-8 years. Maybe it’s a neighbor’s WiFi but the noise stopped within days after I filmed the video.

@@n4hnhradioI have the DX10 but have read about cable compatibility issues plugging in a display..is there a specific brand or spec of cable needed to connect radio to display without issue?? Thank you.

Follow the Yaesu manual. Use a DVI-D to DVI-D cable and plug it into a DVI-D monitor. Even the new ICOM IC-7760 uses DVI-D.
