If I had to guess why Sega liked including Columns so much on those old combo packs instead of 3 which is significantly better, it's likely that it doesn't take much space because of how few assets the original columns has.

Back in the '90s which is an awesome decade to grow up in, anyways at the fast food chain Jack in the box there was a time when included with kids meals you can get video games. All of them were Sega games on the PC. I got the PC version of Sonic 3D blast where the music is different than the Genesis version and the graphics look better. Also the special stages are different. I also got that Sonic and Knuckles collection that you mentioned at the beginning of the video which has Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic and Knuckles, as well as Sonic 3 and Knuckles and yes there was a way to play Blue sphere on it which I saw like in the instruction manual I think was something called special stage mode. And I also got the PC version of Bug. Someday I would like to get my hands on that last game again because I haven't played it since the '90s. Those other Sonic games all of them I played since then. I mean of course Sonic Mega collection on the GameCube and now there's also Sonic Origins Plus. But Bug is a game I don't really come by anymore.

I had a sega fun pack on the ps2 that came with shadow the hedgehog and sonic mega collection plus. I also owned a pc double game pack that had the pc versions of sonic 3d blast and sonic r.

Sega Smash Pack on the GBA has Sonic Spinal, plus Ecco the Dolphin and Golden Axe. It's kinda a steal, even it Spinball only has one music track. Ah, and they all play very well

I did consider ordering a Mega 6 cartridge for my Mega Drive, but I ended up getting the games separately. I do have a compilation cartridge though, specifically a boxed copy of the Classic Collection. It contains Gunstar Heroes, Altered Beast, Flicky and Alex Kidd: The Enchanted Castle. I literally only bought it so I could have a cheaper way to get Gunstar Heroes on real hardware - the rest of the games just kind of exist. No clue why it goes for less than a standalone copy of Gunstar Heroes either.

I had the Sonic Action 4 Pack on PC, which included Sonic CD, Sonic R, Sonic & Knuckles Collection and Sega Smack Pack 2 (featuring Sonic 2). P.S. There was also a Mega Games 3 which had half the games that went on Mega Games 6 Vol. 2.

I have heard about Sonic & Garfield Collection and I played two games on a Windows 98 PC at my mom's cousin. Well, I don't know how, but the Sonic & Knuckles Collection was installed in shareware mode, although Garfield: Caught in the Act game was very good. I'm glad I got Sonic 3 & Knuckles on Steam before the release of Sonic Origins. With Sonic 3 A.I.R. fan remaster I can play with as many mods as I want. 🙂

6:50 Okay that is confusing. I know for a fact that you don't use a mouse to play those games so why even include that? And look out of those PC Sonic games the only one I've played on the PC is Sonic Riders I will admit that, but I know I never use the mouse on that game. I'd feel it would be the same for the other games I just don't get it.

I'm pretty sure it's for general use. You get Sonic-themed hardware bundled in just for the celebration. Also, technically, SADX has mouse controls. It's just a terrible emulation of a joystick and puts a pointer in the middle of the game's screen telling which direction it's currently reading.

Awesome topic. Once I bought PC Sonic CD and it was coming with another Sonic game for PC, I ended up receiving Sonic R plus Sonic3K for PC, but no Sonic CD which was the actual intended purchase lol. Then I bought it again and it was only the US soundtrack. Really Ecco PC is the best PC Sega game

It's surreal to hear someone having to explain CRT screen burn-in, I'm old 💀 SEGA's lazy ass dime-a-dozen compilations are what shaped my taste in games as a whole. Chakan, Shinobi 3, Streets of Rage, The OOZE, Comix Zone, it's no fuckin wonder I love fast, hard action games like the Bayonettas and the Devil May Crys. Shit I didn't care about SRPGs until I played Shining Force on a whim one day on one of those collections and immediately developed a love for an entirely new genre I never would have given a second look otherwise.
