I saw this years ago. anything David Maybury-Lewis did is fabulous in my book. The whole series is amazing. Today, more than ever, the respect for all cultures is important. It's a fine-line and I suppose even I have concerns about some practices that hurt individuals in any given society (infanticide, genital mutilation, etc.) - but ultimately, cultural diversity is a good thing.

Thank you for posting this. I hadn't seen it since the 90s. It's sad that this hasn't been released on DVD.

+Mortimer Snerd no worries, glad to help. I was sad to not find them anywhere myself online so i figured it would be worth the time to upload. Rest of series will be up soon.

Thank you! I've been looking for this so long. Wish the producers of this series would make it available on DVD or streaming!

+Amy Foulks Glad someone is enjoying it, in a sea of scientifically questionable and over-dramatized anthropological documentaries this has always stood out to me as quality programming, though it does border on a slightly problematic 'new age' perspective that perpetuates the 'noble savage' fallacy. Been putting off uploading the rest of the series, but should be done in the next few days. I wish they would make it available too, unfortunately the series didn't get the acclaim it deserved

+Jam Key Well said, I've only watched episodes 1 and 4 so far, but I think you summed it up nicely. I haven't seen other anthropological media, but to me this is definitely over-dramatized, but, it kind of pulls it off because of the respect it shows for other cultures. Maybe it seems this way to me because I'm used to hearing of other cultures as lesser, and who knows, in that context, maybe this series was created in part as a reaction to the lesser evaluation, as a very very positive evaluation to counterbalance.

If it is over dramatized it is because Jajiju, the Wodaabe recreating the event,is a ham 😊 I like that the tribes in this series got to tell.their own stories rather than a narrator doing our outsider interpretations.
