The assassination of JFK has and will probably always be the stuff of mystery. Part of the reason that many questions will forever go unanswered is because of man named Jack Ruby, who shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald as he was being transported by police. In this episode, we're taking a look at some of the artifacts of Jack Ruby on display at The Gettysburg Museum of History.

I saw him shoot Oswald on tv. It’s was crazy. I can remember my Dad saying “I can’t believe that guy just went up and just shot him.” I think the shock of it brought a lot of people to the realization that we weren’t living in the age of Camelot anymore. What we once had was gone. You and Eric doing an amazing job bringing all of this to us. Thank you!👍😊

Oswald didn’t have time to shoot Kennedy nor did he shoot Officer Tippet. Read the documents that have been released of initial eye witness that were released earlier this year and three years ago. @@RichardM333First time I've heard that. But, who really knows? (We know who really knows) I guess that's what I'm saying. I believe Ruby was involved some how. He was connected to people who would kill him if he didn't keep Oswald quiet. There are WAY to many scenarios and THAT could be intentional. Hopefully we get a deathbed confession. Time is running out. Why did they never remove the bullet from Gov Connally's hand? Who knows? Not me.

@twitteriscancer5403 You never understood Oswald's pasty remark, which concerned *_only_* his being an easy person to accuse for having "lived in the Soviet Union." No proof at all that Ruby "was a mobster," and certainly not a 'patsy.' No one yet has claimed anything so absurd. Congrats.

My two brothers and me saw Jack Ruby shot Oswald on live TV... Big old console black and white set. We could not believe what we just saw. It was surreal. Like a movie.. but this was real life.. Still remember how stunned we were. Just kids then, but we knew it was reality. *shoot** By the way I still have that TV in the basement. Does not work but I can't make myself get rid of it. It's kind of like watching the Insurrection at our capital. And I would also compare it to 9/11. President Kennedy's death changed the world and because Lee Harvey Oswald was shot the way he was so many conspiracies of rose up from it. And those conspiracy theories about Oswald and Ruby are an Injustice to President Kennedy's death. And we should all remember President Kennedy's words " civility is not a sign of weakness and sincerity is always subject to proof "

Did you know that Jack Ruby managed a club owned by Joe trafficante who ran the mafia in Cuba and went broke because JFK cut off ties with them. There was one guy that was working for the FBI as an informant did they put in the cell with him and apparently he did confessed to putting a hit but it was hearsay and the prisoner refused to be wired so the prosecutors stopped investigating the case. One more thing Kennedy's dad paid Joe trafficante to help getting him elected in Chicago. When Kennedy became president and started war with the mob he felt slighted.
@Chiller01
@Chiller01 Жыл бұрын
Yes I saw that too. Maybe his actions were just spur of the moment but the complexities and mismanagement around Kennedy’s assassination just lend themselves to conspiracy theories. At least then we needed real events and unusual circumstances to spawn a conspiracy. Now you just need to tell people that evil pedophiles drink babies’ blood in the basement of a pizzeria and away we go.

Nearly 50 years ago, a good friend was married to Jim Lavelle’s daughter (the detective in the white Stetson, who’s handcuffed to Oswald in the famous photo) and I was fortunate enough to spend a nice afternoon / evening with Mr. Lavelle at a party his daughter and my friend were having. He was a truly delightful man who was cut from old school Texas lawman cloth. We talked about the shooting and he told me, with a laugh, that over the years he’d sold those handcuffs many times. Quite the kidder. I don’t know what happened to the actual pair, except that at that time Detective Lavelle said they were locked up in a very safe place.

A rumor that I've read somewhere, can't remember exactly, is that Ruby knew he had terminal cancer when he killed Oswald and the mob put him up to the shooting. (far-fetched I know) I was 6 years old the day of JFK's assassination and going to Catholic grade school. The nuns who were our teachers had the sense to know this was history in the making and had everyone packed into a single classroom with a tv and we watched the coverage after the initial shooting. The sight of the Sisters crying scared me because in my 6 year old mind these ladies had a direct pipeline to Jesus.

I know the man who owned the Jack Ruby revolver for a number of years but he sold it. When Oswald was shot it clipped his superior mesenteric artery off his aorta. One would hemorrhage to death very quickly with that injury. I'm a vascular surgeon and that can be difficult to quickly control the bleeding and then repair the injury...

This brings to mind the first “Sniper” movie with Tom Berringer. After his character was captured by the rouge forces, the guy that was trying to interrogate him asked him what his name was, & Berringer replied “ Lee Harvey Oswald.” Originally the script was for him to have answered “ James Earl Ray”, but they ended up changing it because that would’ve caused some folks to be upset big time.

He might want to check his facts on that. I've found information that contradicts what he says. LBJ nor the Warren Commission would have the authority to release evidence like that. I would think either the Secret Service, FBI or DOJ would have to do that. "After Ruby died his lawyer, Jules Mayer, and his brother Earl Ruby began a 24-year legal battle over ownership of the weapon. Mayer put it in a white cloth bag and stashed it in a $20-a-year safe deposit box in a branch of the Texas Commerce Bank in Dallas. He would occasionally show it off to reporters and others. It still wore the evidence tag, along with a second tag from a court reporter naming it “Stx 6” - “State’s Exhibit No. 6.” Finally, in August 1991, a Texas judge ruled the Ruby family was the rightful owner. Earl Ruby, owner of a Detroit coin-operated laundry, promptly sent it to the auction house. He owed $70,000 in lawyers’ fees. He was also in debt to the Internal Revenue Service for $86,000." lasvegassun.com/news/2008/mar/11/jack-ruby-las-vegas-guns-trajectory/ apnews.com/article/c5bc4667fa920d169cd246a913701305

@@2pugman I have seen a few documentaries about the shooting and in particular the theory that the last shot came from the front, and in my opinion it did, just the way JFKs head snapped backwards. I agree that LHO had to be silenced, he might have been silenced just because he might have been proven to be innocent of any wrongdoing (I doubt it) but more likely is that he knew to much about the real conspiracists, but again I don’t think we will ever know the truth, maybe Ruby did just act on impulse but I don’t buy that, and I can’t think of an alternative reason except for him being paid to do it, but that doesn’t really add up either, how would he have been able to spend the money, there are so many variables that it is a complete mind boggling event.
