I think it's super sweet that you have friends that are much older than you (I mean, why not) and that you help and are willing to help when they need it. So many these days look past people their age because it doesn't "fit" in the picture of what friends are. I much more like your definition.

Yes! We cut out everything that has ‘natural flavors’ a few months ago and it really eliminates almost everything 😬 and yes, you have to make everything from scratch in order to avoid all the things. We don’t go to doctors either but would appreciate the resource for more natural minded dentists! We really struggle finding dentists that are kind and compassionate. Happy early birthday Julie! Glad your on the mend!

I can sympathize with busy weeks. We are graduating our oldest daughter from homeschool this weekend. We are having a small ceremony/grad on our yard. I'm busy doing my best to make our yard look beautiful. Sadly, it has been so dry so the grass is suffering here in Central Canada.

I am super impressed with Silas’ guitar work! Loved it. I am 100% with you about the food industry and pharma. I wish I knew what I do now when my children were young (they are 37 and 30) as I could have set them up better like you are with your beautiful children. Happy birthday for Thursday. I’m sure you will have a wonderful day. Huge admiration and respect to you and Jason.

It is a continual journey of learning when it comes to trying to be healthy in this unhealthy culture. Every time I feel like I have something figured out I learn something new. I suppose that’s why it’s important to enjoy the journey and not get too bogged down. I have to remind myself of that 😄 I’m impressed with Silas too! He’s come a long way in a short time

We learn new things about diet and make changes but we are limited because we live in town and cannot garden and such with the space we have so we make the best choices we can make from the store. Natural flavors are on my radar but sometimes choices have to be made and i just pray that the food my children do get do more goot than harm in the long run.

I just open up capsules of regular vitamins (seeking health methylated for kids) a half dose and empty them into grape juice. My kid shakes the jar with a lid and happily drinks it. Sugar yes. But none of the other junk and it’s a really hearty vitamin. It makes a huge difference on his emotional stability.

Dear Julie, I never understood why additional nutrients/vitamins are a thing in the US. I have never given any additional nutrients to my kids, nor have any of my friend mums to theirs, and we have never experienced the slightest problem with malnutrition. It's just not done in Europe. The one thing I do, is cooking from scratch and buying organic and fresh groceries. xxx Ingeborg :)
@natalieelskamp9677
@natalieelskamp9677 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, here in the US, because of decades of poor farming practices our soils are completely stripped of nutrients and minerals. Even organic doesn't have the nutritional value it should. We also, as a country do not eat organ meats which is practiced in many other countries and those meats are incredibly nutrient dense. Here, even the organ meats isn't as nutrient dense because pastures that animals graze on aren't rotationally grazed and attention given to soil quality. Unfortunately, most meat is grain fed, which doesn't help anything. Regenerative agriculture is something that some people are focusing on because they realize that the soul will not be able sustain us long term. But regenerative agriculture is being practiced across Europe because you guys are also having the effects of stripped soil. Just search here on KZbin for regenerative agriculture in Europe and you'll find it! But that, in a nutshell, is why some of us here in the US are giving supplements to our kids. We are an organic, regenerative homestead and we supplement our kids too. We follow Root Cause protocol so everything is whole food supplements or amino acids, etc, but because we know, the food we grow, as good as it is, will still have major nutritional gaps.

Our food it literally poison here. Even when you're trying your best to get everything organic. We know a crop duster who says nothing is truly organic here. Simplifying our diet, fermenting and having probiotics daily has helped tremendously though :))

I didn't find out I had the MTHFR gene mutation until my late fifties, which explained A LOT (I'm 65 now). This took me down a gazillion rabbit holes regarding nutrition and medicine. It is INSANE how poisoned we Americans are with Big Pharma and the diet our FDA and USDA "approves". What's worse is that I was a Registered Nurse, BSN and realized how blindly I was following what our "healthcare" system suggested. UGH! I've made SO many changes, but it keeps getting more difficult and confusing because even "Organic" products here in America are stamped with the USDA symbol which I don't trust AT ALL. I still have SO much to learn!

Her methyl B12 spray just says that it has “organic mixed berry flavor”-not sure if that is the same thing or not! @@jasonandjulie have you heard about Root Cause protocol? It's so fascinating. Their approach to b vitamins and MTHFR was SO mind-blowing to me. I learned how to read HTMAs because of root cause and we've been making changes over the past two years because of that knowledge that comes from an HTMA and it's truly been life changing. I had to be on progesterone for my last 3 pregnancies (first 3 were fine🤷) but crazy high doses to maintain the pregnancy. In the middle of my 6th pregnancy, I found root cause immediately implemented and within 4 weeks saw HUGE shifts in my hormones. I was doing labs every two weeks, and with progesterone supplements I struggled to stay above 30. With root cause, I was able to go up to 90 in 4 weeks so they took me off and my numbers went up to 140, where they were supposed to be 2 weeks later. My midwife was shocked and said she's never seen anything like it and since has recommended root cause to her mamas, others with similar results!

A long time ago, long long time, back when I was a kid, there was this big hullabaloo about E numbers in foods; I remember when my dad brought this list home. I think you can't do it all, always, from scratch, you'd have no life, Julie, so with that comes accepting that some things "might" be okay, once in a while. I mean it's like with not exposing your kids to bacteria. Their immune systems suffer. I think you may need to think along those lines here. If only to give yourself some peace of mind.
