Eve Online - Tech 2 BPOs are they worth it? Unfair advantage?

Hey look first lol, never said that before. Found you a few days ago and am enjoying the stuff so far :~) One suggestion for when you are looking at us newer players, maybe use a "newer" character with the sorts of skill levels and stuff you ahev early on and the sort of funds we would be looking at. It looks ace when you got lots of stuff but I don't, yet ;~)

One thing to consider, make copies of the T2 BPO, and then sell the copies in contract for profit? Make copies and then you can have multiple production slots to make even more missiles per day/month/whenever? I think the time investment in making copies does work out to greatly multiply the number you can produce?

Bought a T2 rocket BPO years ago for around 500 million Iirc? Gave it away to someone I know in Irl during one of my previous periods of leaving the game...

I just put in my comment on the Orca thread... clearly too late for the draw :) I have been doing invention with my own datacores I get from research agents or exploration... it's all fun and I mostly do this for my own use but I do sell the occasional Mastodon or Sleipnir as well. The hardest T2 material for me is Plasmonic Metamaterials, which is seldom available in my home base of Hek (yes I know... hardly Jita)

I do plan to cover T2 invention but its a rather large topic so tbh ive been putting it off! Ive lived out of Rens and Hek but not for over a decade lol. With Amarr being cut off it might start getting more love 😃

@@kristopherjames2404 The most direct route from Jita to Amarr is 9 jumps. However a key system on the route from Niarja has been taken over by the Triglavians which turns the system into low sec so you can be shot at without help from Concorde. If you are to avoid Niarja it will now take you 40+ jumps to get to Amarr.

Calculating the time to break even is misleading. You haven't lost the money, you have the asset, you're already break-even. I thought a better way to view it is you're immobilizing 30B to secure a 22% margin on 20B/year. Whether or not it's worth it only depends on whether or not you could be doing a better margin with those 30B

This is very true, the asset isnt diminishing and should technically hold its value. Then I can sell it and have already pocketed the ISK made from manufacturing.

Have to say, this was a pretty terrible use of your isk. To each their own, but you'll probably stop playing or the servers will shut down before you can even get a return on this investment. Passive trading would make significantly more than you will make on this bpo.

not a good use of your ISK, you could pour that 35 billion into the market and make 5 or 6 billion from it (or less depending on your taxes, my trade skills are 5 and my standing with caldari navy is 10 and caldari faction is 8.5 or about, i can't go into gallente or minmatar space but i get a really good deal on my percentage in jita), i put in about 10 billion this month and made 2 billion on the stuff i sold, i kept a lot of the ammo and cap boosters because i just like having it and it's all "free", but if i trade hard, i can sub 7 different accounts from the proceeds and my net worth stays the same. goes up if i pull out some SP from some of my assistant characters but i dont really need to much, i have enough to keep myself entertained with some light trading. you're not a complete idiot since you can always sell the BPO but an 8 year time frame to return your initial investment is not really good. 2 years is reasonable, 8 years is pretty ridiculous but i realize its a game economy and not real life. i would never do it for investment purposes but i might do it for an item i really like using and use a lot of like gyrostabalizers or something, loki subsystems maybe, i'm not sure i've never really looked into it and i haven't lost a loki in a long time so i probably wouldn't even do that. i find most all of the industry in EVE to be a waste of my effort, if it falls into my lap i'll make it like tech 1 rigs or something but i usually don't bother much when the market is just so reliable and easy, i set my buy orders and leave it, come back to jita once in a while and put it all up for sale, its just free money at a rate that i can't be bothered to do anything else for money, the rest of my time in EVE is all spent jacking around and intimidating people with numbers (even though its hollow, i can't multibox 7 accounts lol). i did do a ton of missions to get the standing, but that was a time when i enjoyed running missions, before burners even. if i didnt have that standing, i might be interested in something like this but since i do, i don't worry much about anything else in regards to ISK.

Your math on returns is very bad. You invested 35b into an asset that produces no income for 8 years. It won't sell at a good appreciated rate in that time either. You need to learn what the concept of Opportunity Cost is. You also need to evaluate apples to apples. I like videos. Please watch some economics education on opportunity costs and proper investment valuations. Have fun. I would have bought that BPO for the price of ownership in something that rare but I wouldn't convince myself it's wise. It's just fun. Congrats. You earned it.
