Some answers that will be on that list are more obvious than others. Free labor feels pretty obvious. Just like today if you're from a rural area or own a family business. Collecting easily collectable items (eggs, nuts, berries, etc) and watering the crops. At a certain age, they would be large enough to handle more difficult farm tasks or take up the family trade. Sometimes both. But what about kids in the city? Were they status symbols like they are today? *"Oh Titanius is in 1st gymnasium right now, but he is reading Linear B at a 5th gymnasium level!"* Or were they like little factory workers cleaning out aqueducts and sewers that big adults couldn't get to? All that lead piping... I wonder how many of those kids went barking mad...oooo... and now this went dark.... Yeah, the past was the worst.
@clubpeng2 жыл бұрын
@@thestoryofusall4805 that was very insightful. I always like to know what children were up to and how they raised babies/what was considered normal when dealing with babies. Now it's important to leave babies on their backs, but a while ago it was ok to leave them sleeping on their bellies. Things change every century it seems.

They probably just chose the most unheard of or strangest-made drinks for views and the commenters who already heard of it. Mead is still popular and almost every american has heard about it at some point. And the strange thing is where i love it the south some families have mead recipes thats been around since the beginning of the usa. Or they know what it is from a textbook.
@WindFireAllThatKindOfThing2 жыл бұрын
@@willg125 Depends on how you make it. You can cold brew it viking-style using garbage baking yeast and basic grocery store honey for a semi-sour, but sweet cloudy ale-like brew in as little as a week and waiting for all sorts of spices to be just tossed in there, or the refined way we usually see bottled today that is a much more sour cousin in the ballpark of wine. When I was 18, literally used to use 1 gallon milk jugs with a fresh Mead mix and ferment it in the snow for a week. Each jug was marked Monday...Tuesday...Wednesday...we didn't have anyone to shoulder tap to score us beer back then. So we made our own alternative with basics from the grocery store, and added experimental stuff like cloves, orange peel, pepper corns, cinammon sticks, etc. It was super cloudy even after filtering, and would only last about a week once you popped the cork on the growler, but it was good stuff, and we killed a gallon each night.
