I think the reason why so many of these pictures seem familiar is because they are ambiguous enough to make the majority of people think they have seen it before. I also think these pictures are so relatable because of people seeing something like them in the past, and losing memory of what they really saw, which makes them believe that they really saw what was in the picture. Maybe not the same colors or position, but still the same concept. For example, one picture could have a red triangle on the side of a restaurant, and someone could have seen a pink triangle in the frontside of a building 5 years ago. These scenes are related enough for the person to think that they have seen the one in the picture.

POV: You walking down the long corridor of a subway station. The cool blast of air hitting your face. You hear this song, resonating around the station. Trying to find the source. I'm gonna give my commentary on each picture and share my thoughts (will be in order of the pictures shown) 1- This reminds me of a highway my mom drove on in the city I used to live in tbh 2- This one doesn't really click anything for me 3- I mean I drive by wheat and corn fields a lot but this doesn't click either. 4- This one doesn't click at all 5- I've been to a few restaurants during the night, I find it cozy if it's warm 6- I drive by houses like this all the time 7- This doesn't really click with me it just seems like a modern house that's empty or hasn't been moved into yet 8- Definitely the back of a Walmart 9- Good ol hotel corridor, I'm sure everyone's familiar with them 10- I've never been in a car ride in the snow at night but this does look pretty 11- Jeez that's a cramped apartment 12- I don't know what this is but it's scaring me 13- I'm familiar with overgrown stuff but I can't pinpoint this one to anything really 14- This looks like an airport to me and I haven't been to one in a whiiiile 15- That's just scary 16- What the fuck is that a train station 17- That's a very narrow hotel corridor 18- Also scary 19- Doesn't click at all 20- This is INCREDIBLY familiar but I can't put my finger on it, it does look like the school I used to go to, though 21- That looks like a combination of a school and a pool, I don't like that 22- Doesn't click at all 23- Reminds me of something, can't pinpoint what 24- Reminds me of driving at night 25- Don't like the vibes on this one 26- I swear I've been in that EXACT hotel room in cape cod, I can almost smell the spray-on sunblock 27- Another train station? 28- Doesn't click, looks like an album cover 29- That looks like a parking lot and why is it flooded 30- I don't like that 31- What the fuck that looks like a room in my sisters house 32- Don't like this one either 33- Looks like another hotel I think 34- That looks really weird 35- What the fuck is that it looks like a really obscure office building 36- Claustrophobic 37- This just seems like somebodys room nothing weird here 38- Oooh looks like home depot 39- That looks like a school and I don't like schools, also don't like how it's blurred 40- That looks like it's literally underground 41- That's definitely that outdoor place at walmart, I used to go to those with my grandma wile she looked at flowers I think 42- I hate that waiting room 43- That looks like a hospital and I just. Don't like hospitals man 44- I swear that looks like the hallway to where I got xrays once 45- Oh no is that one of those corridors that helps you get onto a plane? 46- Literally cannot comprehend this 47- I think this is some sort of mall, I've been to one similar to this 48- Old people house 49- Why is the floor wet on this one

Liminal space especially good ones usually have some of these characteristics - poor lighting - low picture quality - absence of people - out of place - off focus, not in terms of camera focus but the focus of a subject, often times feeling like the picture taken isn't focused onto any subject with intention, and that the subject of focus is missing -mildly human design but questionable placement of objects or structures, like furnitures placed by someone pretending to be human, or to imitation of an environment with human activities - obscurity, with spaces that are obviously hidden from sight but makes you aware of its presence and its potential volume - spacially tangible, with structures that most people with experience of modern society have seen before, and provocative on making you imagine being in that space
@GabrielPerez-br5mm4 ай бұрын
The point of a liminal space is to evoke feeling of nostalgia and sadness by having it be a location someone has been before But also an eerie or creepiness hidden underneath, Exp. No people, Abandoned, Flooded, Empty, etc. That is what I think makes a good liminal space

Does that really mean that everyone remembers things kind of the same way? There's a thing where some people memorize things with the same mistakes(like the fort logo and etc.). So do out brains fr memorize how airports/swimming pools/birthday party buildings look the same way ?
@ChrisPoindexter983 жыл бұрын
I've heard in psychology, our brains can make approximate so to speak, of what a kind of room or structure is meant to look like, so the more similar and engineered our collective unconscious and cultural memory becomes, I suppose that coalesces, too.

0:00 The drive from your home to the Airport on an empty Highway. 0:04 Watching TV late at night while your parents are gone. 0:09 Riding a Bike in a Cornfield. 0:12 Going to the washroom at your Best Friends’ Birthday Party. 0:15 Your parents took you to a cafe late at night, perhaps to eat Supper. Everyone’s done with their meal but the waiters were slow to give you yours so you wait in silence as your stomach grumbles in agony. 0:21 Driving past an unknown suburb you’ve never been in before, perhaps to stop by a Fast Food Joint to use the Restroom or to your Hotel for vacation. 0:25 Moving to a brand new house, moving into a Hotel Room, etc. 0:30 The outside of a shopping mall, the parking lot at the back. 0:34 Your Pa’s Workplace, or maybe the Hotel you’re staying at. 0:38 Walking back home alongside an empty road in your Neighbourhood with your Pa, maybe your friend. 0:42 Moving into a new house, or moving out of an old one. 0:47 An empty Office Space that’s up for rent. 0:52 After a long day of playing at the park you finally walk up those stairs to rendezvous with your Mum so you can head home. The sun is close to setting. 0:56 You find yourself alone in the Cinema, as you wander past the creepy-looking empty rooms and long halls looking for the restroom. 0:59 It is Back To School Night, and your friends have been brought to school by their parents, so that the parents could talk with your Elementary School Teachers. You decide to play a game of hide and seek with them, and you hide with one of your friends in a dark and closed classroom, the door unlocked. 1:04 You just finished shopping with your Pa for Milk and Groceries, and you head home via the Underground. It is 11:00 PM at night and it’s empty everywhere. 1:08 You just arrived at the Airport at 12:30 AM. You are tired and so are your parents and probably siblings. You all book a reservation at a Hotel, get your keys, take the Lift, and head to your room…quietly of course, as there are people trying to sleep. 1:13 Walking back home after a long day in the park. 1:16 Sitting on a bench outside a restaurant, waiting for your Pa to order your meal. 1:20 Still walking back home from the park. 1:24 You take a wrong turn at the mall, and you wonder to yourself “Am I even in the same mall?” 1:28 You’re driving in the downtown area of the city you’re having your vacation in. 1:32 You’re pranking your siblings by locking your door and keeping them locked outside of their room, late at night. 1:36 You walk your little Mutt after Supper and pass by a school you don’t go to, or a school you go to, or a school you USED to attend. 1:40 Your Pa drives to the Walmart via the back. 1:44 The feeling you get when you first arrive in a new Hotel Room in the morning. 1:48 The airport is all quiet… 1:53 Still walking your Mutt at the park and you pass by a Tennis Court that is never used by anyone. 1:57 You go to take your subway to go home but there’s a sign and a few barriers. The sign warns of a Pipe that burst and how there is a water leakage and that the subway tunnel is flooded. Because of this, the Subway Station and the entire Subway network is closed due to flooding. 2:01 Waiting in a Food Court for food… 2:06 You’re still looking at your brand new House. 2:10 Your local mall announces that it will close soon and there are only a few derelict stores opened. Okay that’s all I’ll be doing.
