@@PaperGrape the very first thing they do is plug their fkn movie and production company. Obviously he’s not going to give just anyone a platform but why wouldn’t he accept payment to let someone advertise their movie as long as it’s something he approves of. In Canadian public school when I was growing up, each class began the day with the Lord's Prayer and a short reading of scripture- usually something from Proverbs' wise sayings or Psalms. It set the tone for the whole day- a moment of peace and meditation. Then midway in 8th grade it stopped as a result of Madeline Mare O'Hare's court case in the US. I think public education has gone downhill ever since.

For us in America it was the pledge. “One nation under God”. When they got rid of that the communist garbage started. Children were told they should disrespect their parents, told that the school was the ultimate authority. I knew we were toast.

It really amazes me how you who claim that things were better before, do not understand that today things are the way they are, precisely because of those things that were before! If you were to go back in time, and repeat the things you claim are better than today, you would still end up with what you have today! Understand that the solution is not to go back to the past that caused the present, but to find a new way forward!

That’s interesting. It’s interesting because, by the Founding of the US it was set so that the State cannot take a stance on Religion. Which is notable, because in essence the State has a basis in concepts and philosophies so deeply tied to Christian Doctrine it is difficult to find the distinction. But there is a distinction. Our State is designed so that those who choose and are chosen to sit in Seats of Power. In Governance, may not dictate to others which Religious Beliefs we are going to Rule by. This is to do two things. One is that it prevents those in Power from interfering with Fundamental Liberties of others. Which is critical, because no valuable Faith is dictated by action. And this States only role is to dictate action. This means if you proselytize it HAS to be voluntary, and it limits Religious from trying to institute obedience alone as a valid model of Righteousness. Your battle is one on the grounds of Faith and Faith alone. And thank God. Because that’s the only place that even your own scriptures attest that you can win the battle it talks about. The other is that it evens the playing field. Not only can you not engage in meaningless Theocracy, you are reducing all people to the ground where your Faith has the advantage. And not only that, it means no one else can raise their Religion to the status of Theocracy over you. If they do, you’ve the Right and Duty by the Law to remove them from Power the moment. The very Moment. They transgress. Kind enough to list out our order of operations. Words freely spoken. If they fail, the Right to defense of all other Rights, by Kinetic review. Once again, you win, by the only means that matter. Faith. But have the explicit permission and justification to address an imbalance should another Religion break it. I don’t think it’s the Prayer if I’m being honest. I think it’s you and us. I think that we say oh poor God, oh poor Christ, oh poor Christians, oh poor Christianity. Fuck that. You haven’t lost anything. Except the ability to take that Prayer for granted. To have nostalgia, for when you didn’t actually have to hold forth your Faith on its Power and Merit. Rather than have it ring through the Halls of Government like an Imam’s Prayer. God isn’t weakened or losing out because it’s not in Schools. Because it could be in Schools, if it was truly coming out of you and yours. And the real stuff, not a perfunctory nod to behavior, that is only effective if it’s backed up by true Faith. Christ is not weakened. His example and work is still holding that door open for all who believe. Christian’s aren’t weakened. Every gift given is the same as ever. Every step as powerful as the first in Christ. Christianity does not need be weakened. Now, they cannot pretend to control that isn’t theirs. Now the actions without the Faith are not the standard you think they are. You cannot pass off second rate sacrifice with the permission of those who are willing to accept mere token acceptance. Now the strong will truly be differentiated from the weak, by their Faith. The power of those Scriptures never needed that crap. Neither did their God. Neither did the perfect Man’s Sacrifice. Neither did his followers, and only when the Christians who called themselves that, were at their weakest did they need the State to do more than let them be. Buddy. I say this as a Christian. Stand the fuck up. It’s not the loss of Prayers. It’s the loss of those who understand the place of Prayer. It’s the loss of thankfulness for this great bounty. It’s the false understanding of when and how this stuff actually works. It’s not that nostalgia you feel. The only thing you’ve lost, is perspective. And that happened long before the Prayers no longer rang in the Halls of Government. My apologies if that is not what you wanted to hear. My apologies if you don’t think this applies to you. My apologies if you think I’m trying to grandstand. I’m not. But I am dead tired of Christians persecution complex. You will be persecuted. But this ain’t it. So get up, and get to it if you see darkness. But use the Scriptures as your light. Not the wistful memories of youth. You aren’t a Child in this House. You are a Son. Be about your Father’s Business. EDIT: To clarify, this translates to Canadians perfectly well. Our Countries and People are Brothers. And getting more closely tied as the communication increases.

I watched the interview with the Robertson’s and I was taken by the fact they are much more than what they portray in the Duck Dynasty episodes. I felt they expressed genuine feelings about their families and their personal relationships and their relationship with Christ. My main point though from the very end where you commented on how they conducted themselves with each during the interview. I actually did notice how they were not stepping on each other and were giving each other time to speak. I pray often that I will be a better listener than I am a talker. Your comment made me reflect upon my own marriage ( I lost my wife to brain cancer 8 years ago), I believe I could have allowed my wife to have more time telling her version of a situation than I probably gave because I most likely felt my version was more accurate. I always reflect on how I could have made her life experience more joyful had I had my head more in tune with biblical perspective and principles.

Such a great discussion - this family is such a good model for the everyday family unit. My family has deep roots in texas but my husband's family is from Louisiana and Alabama and respect is a big deal in the southern culture - especially respecting your father and the roles we play subordinate to him. Not saying we all bow down to Dad but we all know the role of the man in the home and the effect that has on the entire family - and that is something to respect. We see that in Phil's life and the impact it has had on his family. God's grace is incredibly beautiful.

This is such a fascinating episode. I love Jordan Peterson and have learned so much from him as he engages his pursuit of truth through verbal processing with his audience. He has worked so hard to use the intellectual tools available to pursue truth, which has so often lead him to myths and the sacred texts of Judeo Christianity. So then to listen him encounter the Robertsons who don't have anything like the intellectual chops or education that Dr. Peterson has, but actually embody the truth by faith, the only way Scripture can be fully interpreted or understood. Their joy, peace, settledness...as individuals and as a family community, they are already well becoming all the things that Peterson evaluates and analyses as a deeply rooted part of who they are. The lightness and joy of the Robertsons is something available to everyone without having to get a doctorate and piece together fragments of truth from Jung, social science research, the great myths, with some sprinkling in of Scripture. It is available to everyone and empowered by God Himself. I love that the Robertons are praying for Dr. Peterson...I think a lot of us are. Can't wait for him to land on the Center.

yeah, well ducks. plenty of hunting shows. but duck hunting had a reputation of,i dont know, gentlemanly, rm for the wealthy, upity? reputation. and the camera work was also cutting edge for it's time and place.

Was wondering if and when we would get an interview with any of the duck dynasty crew. Thank you to everyone involved here! God bless! Now we need one with uncle Si!
