When this episode came out Iron Maiden’s official Twitter posted a screenshot of Eddie holding one of their tapes screaming “THIS IS MUSIC!” Saying “We stand with you Eddie!” I feel like all us metal heads yelled the same thing at that point lol. Hope all 3 of you are doing well!

So glad Eleven didn’t give Brenner the validation he was looking for. I hope Owens is OK. I was a little pissed he was working with Brenner but I think he truly just wanted to help El. Fun fact... in the camper, when Eddie says to Steve "don't ya big boy" ... that line was improvised and not part of the script at all. When you know this, the look on the other two actors faces when he says it is priceless lol

30:50 Actually there is a exception to this. In S1E8 when Nancy & Jonathan tried to kill the Demorgorgon, it attacked Jonathan and was about to kill him, but then Nancy distracted him by shooting at him many times. So Duffer Brothers pretty much said that Brenner survived the same way. There were multiple soldiers around them armed with weapons who shot at it while Brenner got attacked and therefore they threw the attention away from him.

The basic rule of gun safety is that you ALWAYS treat the gun as though it were loaded. Even if YOU have unloaded it, yourself. Assuming otherwise is the most common cause of accidental shootings. We are also seeing (in Josh) a character who most likely has not slept since the sheriff arrived with the information that his girlfriend was dead and lack of sleep leads to psychosis.

Also for what it's worth, Vickie (the girl Robin likes) was looking at pepper spray, not guns or anything like that :) Also I MASSIVELY appreciate that you guys gave spoiler warnings for older shows you talked about in your post episode discussion, I often watch things super late so I was able to avoid whatever spoilers you guys mentioned. Do you remember in Season Two when the scientists at the Department of Energy labs were testing what looked like soil samples from the Upside-down that swirled in that manner and the theory was put forth that everything in the Upside-down is a single, interconnected entity?

"Papa doesn't ALWAYS tell the truth," which means that there are times when he DOES tell the truth, however, Eleven saw through Dr. Brenner's subterfuge/self-deception and that what he wanted was to recreate Henry/One, or to find him once they actually discovered the Upside-down.

Army Navy Stores sold/sell govt surplus. Hunters and construction workers were usually the clientele. Guns were sold for hunters. The only unrealistic thing about the scene is that you had to be at least 21 years old (and still must be) to purchase a gun. The craziness is from Jason whipping every one up to a frenzy in the Town Hall. PS I think Will is in love with Mike. He created the painting for him. El didn’t ask him to paint it. The swirl could be part of the Mind Flayer driven out of Will.

Matthew Modine is a great actor. He was in a movie with Melanie Griffith and Michael Keaton called Pacific Heights. He also was interviewed by John Fugelsang. Worth listening to if you have Sirius Radio. He is so different than this character.

There have been clues seeded through the past episodes of Stranger Things that Will might struggle with being gay (which in the 1980s was almost worse than being a Satanist), and during season four we have seen even more indicators that Will is struggling with his sexuality and his feelings regarding Mike. This is juxtaposed with the relationship between Steve and Robin where he knows that she is gay and is encouraging her and the closeness between Dustin and Steve, then Dustin and Eddie which carries none of the sexual subtexts.

I have to say that I'm an American and I think the gun culture here is weird too. A lot of us do. Horrific even. Given the shootings we've had in recent years. I don't own a gun and I have no interest. The culture is an unfortunate consequence of our rebelious history I'm afraid.

Brenner wanted Eleven to be stronger than she ever was before, well the fact she slammed that chopper to the ground like she was Magneto proves she just went Super Saiyan 2. But I still have no idea why the hell she didn’t tell the guys to wait in the van, go down in the lab, get Owens and kill anyone who got in her way, especially Sullivan?!?!?! She still had plenty of gas in the tank, and not only is he a friend but he has the resources they need to get to Hawkins in time and prepare further for One! Also Henry/One/Vecna extremely powerful and cruel, he’s also a very clever strategist. The murder scenes which are now tears to the Upside Down are not random, they’re all in perfectly placed locations. The 1st one is in the trailer park which is on the outskirts of Hawkins so not many people will be around, 2nd is on a main road in and out of Hawkins to cut off an escape route, and 3rd is in a lake out of sight and barely out of reach. He planned it like a military operation.

Analysis time. So, I feel like this is another time where we're purposefully being kept out of Mike's head. Will is confessing to Mike and disguising his feelings by putting El's name on it. But in doing so, he presented Mike with some contradictory evidence. Mike knows that Will painted the painting for his potential crush(as El wrote in her letter), and he seems really happy about it. Will panics and says that El commissioned it and Mike gets this really confused look on his face. Because El said she had no idea what Will was painting. And also, El doesn't really have D&D knowledge to ask for a painting specifically designed around it. And also also, Will tells Mike that if he ever felt like "El" was pushing him away, it's because "she" was scared of losing him. But that's also contradictory. El didn't try pushing Mike away at all. Mike was the one distancing himself from her. El wanted his attention and love more than anything. So I think Mike has either figured out Will isn't telling him something or he's started putting the pieces together in his head. But he seemed happy about the idea of Will's crush potentially being on him. I feel like Mike has to know to some degree, because Will's speech about "El" has so many inconsistencies to it that it couldn't possibly be about her. And Mike isn't dumb. You expect me to believe that Mike, the same guy who spent most of his day with El but noticed Will was really sad at the roller rink(implying that he notices even small details about Will) somehow didn't notice Will right next to him? I think the show has purposefully kept us distant from Mike's inner thoughts for the past two seasons.

I think there will be a subplot in S5 about either saving owens or there being people under Sullivan who are actually trying to protect El aswell who help him escape. Ultimately I think there will a perverbial come to Jesus moment for Sullivan when he realizes Owens was right and will likely try to help El in the final fight.

I loved and hated Will's arc in this season, of course his personal struggles and feelings was beautifully brought across BUT that's all there was to him this season, like he was just tagging along to be sad a few scenes an episode, and gawd Johnathon has been a non character for two seasons now
