Speaking of devil worship... Satanic Panic was big in the 80's and crimes blamed on ritual sacrifices. Eddie's character is based on Damien Echols of the West Memephis Three story. Three small town teens convicted of murdering three boys as a ritual. The 3 teens were considered "different" dressing in black etc... One of them was coerced to confess and did time but eventually they were clearedof it. There have been movies and books. It's an insane story. But yeah, the Duffers said they based Eddie on that

Wow y'all are the first ppl I've seen not like Eddie it's weird I love Eddie his actually my favorite character better than Steve and I love Steve also fun fact the director's actually said they felt like they made a mistake killing Chrissy so soon because of the chemistry Eddie and her had but they couldn't fix it because they did the death scene first and then the flirting scene had they known that they had that much chemistry they would've kept her on longer. Lastly Robert englund aka Freddie Krueger himself plays in stranger things actually they wanted it to feel like Freddie Krueger like on the other side.
