Lucas sent the guys to hoppers old cabin in the middle of nowhere, he tagged along to make sure they didn't find Eddie. The Russians wanted Demogorgons to use as weapons which is why they were trying to open the portal under the mall. Also, loved your discussion after this episode.. you may find some of your answers in following episodes. Heads up.. the next episode is pretty much the best episode of the entire series so far.

Hey guys, love your videos. To answer one of your questions - I graduated from high school in 1988, making these kids basically my age at the time. The bullying situation 11 experiences 100% passes the smell test of what it was like in high school in the 80s for some people. Also, many of us were latchkey kids - we had free reign of the world 90% of the time and being gone for 12 hours without our parents being too concerned was pretty normal. You got up on Saturday, got on your bike, and disappeared until dusk or later...every weekend. No phones, no pagers, the occasional call home from a pay phone at the mall or something if absolutely necessary.

Watching younger generations react to the bullying in this show is very enlightening. Yeah. Went to school through the 80s and 90s. Bullying is not exaggerating. And 9 times out of 10 the teachers and adults would tell the kids being bullied and even beaten up regularly, that they should just try and fit in more. Conformity was key back then. Anything that made you anything other than normal was justification for bullying or at the very least something being thrown at you.

I grew up in the 70s and 80s. I was basically Nancys age during the time frame of this show. The bullying was pretty bad back then. Also we were mostly "latch-key kids". During summer vacation we were out the door in the morning and be gone all say. Our parents almost never saw us especially in the summer. Bottom line, this is actually acurate.

Millie's acting is AMAZING. That scene with Eleven breaking down to Mike was so well done, and Eleven was clearly referring to how hard it is for her to suddenly have to adapt to a high school setting after never going to school or interacting with others much. That's why she feels everyone looks at her like she's a monster, cuz THEY DO even before she hit Angela. I also feel that scene brought up a good question is if Mike still loves and sees Eleven the same way without her powers. When he began liking her he was younger and any kid would admire a "superhero" with literal powers.

There are a lot of talented actors on this show. But I really felt El confronting Mike with the letters. The little quiver in her voice that eventually rises as she becomes more emotional. Magnificent. You can actually see her frown really hard last episode when Mike gives her the flowers that say, "From, Mike". Mike also seems to know something's going on with Will since El mentioned him painting something for someone he likes but when he asked about it, Will said it was nothing. Finn Wolfhard did say Mike was going to go through some major changes and shifts this season, so I wonder what's going on in that head of his?

Season 3 wasn't nearly the same in the ending. El didn't save the day because she had no powers. Lucas's fire works slowed the Mindflayer, Billy sacrificed to save El and Joyce closed the gate. Then this season more of powerless El. While only a small crew is left in Hawkins and shows how the story has expanded nationally and internationally.

Went to school in the '60's and' 70's and the bullying was real and violent. Time for recess in grade school at one school I attended (from K-3rd) was time to keep my head on a swivel.

i always saw hoppers goal with smashing his shackles as him wanting to make them more like oval shaped so he could slip out of them more easily and his feet just got fucked up in the process but maybe im overthinking that whole bit like it feels kinda shortsighted to just smash up his feet so he can escape but idk also jesus i cant wait for your guys reactions to the next episode
