most people dislike this episode but i really think it helped eleven more with her powers. it’s one of my favorite episodes.

I also love the punk rock aspect. Had a Lost Boys or Suburbia type feel. Given that these can be binged, I don't get why people have an issue with it being a stand-alone. I feel like people these days are too impatient. Plus, this story sowed some seeds for what could come later.

People fake hate it because it "distributed" the storyline, but honestly, it opened up the question, who else has a 000 number and what can they do, how can they help in the future seasons and what's the origin of Hawkins lab, so many things can come from this one episode. I loved it.

Thank you so much for not instantly shooting this episode down like so many others. For me, this is a vital part of El's development and one of my absolute favourites. We got to see El go through her teen rebel phase (I actually adore 'punk El'), and learn to use her powers more effectively which will be important later. Also, El got to explore all of her options and figure out where she truly belongs - by her own choices - up until now others have been making those choices for her. I feel she needed to completely get away from everyone else in order to do this - one of the many complaints made is that she's separated from the main group for too long this season. There's so much to unpack with Kali's character too; she emulates Brenner a lot with her mannerisms and manipulations. She uses El and her gang as tools just as Brenner would alongside her own abilities because this is all she knows. Despite her bitter need for revenge, you can see the little girl from the lab is still in there, trying to heal. In her own twisted way, Kali tried to help El to heal via the same methods and she was clearly heartbroken when El left. This is a character study in how El could have turned out differently had she not ran into the right people outside the lab. I think El's mom wanted her to guide Kali away from this self destructive path. I fear we may never see her again because of the backlash from the fandom. It's a shame, we're going to lose an interesting story thread purely because people ignored the nuances here and were too impatient to see the next episode. I don't see how this story could have been placed differently. It fits in perfectly alongside other events before it all comes together, giving us a breather before the epic finale.

I really don't understand why this episode is so poorly rated and/or disliked by many. Sure, it's quite "strange" and separate from the main story, but it "serves" to understand better some backgrounds of 11. And it shows another '80s "clichè", the movies about urban gangs etc
@shannyd14 жыл бұрын
I love this episode and Kali..most people hate her and assume shes using El but she honestly cared for her and wanted to help her heal in the way she did but I do believe they need each other and maybe Kali was meant to go with El instead and stop the revenge path that did actually keep her alive. They need to steal to survive but only kill those involved in the lab. This is how Eleven would.of turned out if she didnt find Hopper and had to keep.fending for herself. Kali was heartbroken losing El it's so.clear on her face. Hope they reunite, El also learnt alot from her trip and sister too, including how to use her powers better.

A most controversial episode here in that it was not well received. One of the main criticisms was the members of Kali's gang were very one dimensional characters, but I don't know what else they could have done given the focus needed to be on El and Kali and you also need to get back to the main storyline. I personally like that it shows how El could have turned out without the love and guidance of Mike, Hopper and all of her friends. Great reaction as always.

I think the people who tend to dislike this episode are the people who binged the season in one or two sittings. The people who watch the episodes over time don’t seem to mind it as much. As someone who binged the whole season in one sitting, it was definitely a bit jarring but mainly because they left us with the cliffhanger with the demidogs last episode. BUT I TOTALLY think it was necessary for El’s character and development. And made more sense for her character. I just think it threw off the flow when binging the season.

This one got a lot of criticism but I really love this episode. I think this episode was important for Eleven as a character. She really needed this in order to kind of move on. Yes, episode 6 leaves you on a crazy cliff hanger so I think that's kind of the reason a lot of people were annoyed and I understand that. But honestly, it was a nice switch up before heading into the crazy final episodes! Great reaction guys :)

This isn't my favorite episode, but I understand the importance of it. For that reason, it was a necessary episode. El needed to learn that anger isn't the way, that forgiveness needed to be learned. El grew up in this episode.

I dont know why people dislike this episode so much and why they hate so much 8, what she did was from a place of good, she was taken by anger and thats something that Jane also went through, I mean in my opinion what 8 was doing was right (not the stealing part), I mean killing people who tortured and killed innocent people and took advantage from children stealing there entire lifes? Sounds fair to me

@@gfoyle69 No problem them defending the episode. But here's the quote, "Our test of the episode was we tried to pull it out of the show just to make sure that we needed it because I didn’t want it in there as filler - even though some critics are accusing us of doing that. But Eleven’s journey kind of fell apart, like the ending didn’t work, without it. So I was like, whether this works or not, we need this building block in here or the whole show is going to collapse. [removed spoiler here] .”

I think the concept of this episode was actually excellent, but the main problem with it is that they rush in a whole season's worth of stuff into a episode. It's pretty much impossible to be invested into characters just from a single ep. Eleven's story Kali should've lasted the whole season in bits & pieces instead of packing it all in here. Then we would've felt a genuine connection with these characters and the payoff of her rejecting them to come back to Mike and Hopper would've meant a lot more than it did here.

This episodes and elle’s storyline this season and keeping her away from the main action is the main reason that season 2 is my least favorite of the 3 so far. I never cared about the other numbered people and didn’t need to see them. I’m sure some people do care but this is probably my least favorite episode of the show full stop.
