Bean Nut *YES!!!!!* also, I want to see El actually react to snow XD that would be the purest thing ever. Here's how I imagine it happening: it's late November, and snow is falling in Hawkins. El has no idea what the f$&k it is, and freaks out when she thinks of those particles in the Upside Down. Mike's trying to comfort her, calmly explaining that snow is just little clusters of ice molecules falling from the sky. He then sticks his tongue out, a snowflake lands on his tongue, melting. El does the same, laughs, and then they get their snow stuff on, and have their own little Snow Ball, before Karen yells at them to get back inside, or you'll catch a cold. They then cuddle on the couch, wrapped up in blankets, holding steaming mugs of hot cocoa, before falling asleep on the couch (to Karen's and Ted's mild surprise.

Indiana (as an entire STATE, forget small towns lol) to this day is close to 90% Caucasian so yeah, diversities not really a priority. People tune into a show because of the quality of the writing and visuals. Demographics should never be a factor.

I agree! Of all the things one could want to see in the 2nd season you're going to say racial diversity? The show, while largely a work of sci-fi, seeks to give an authentic portrayal of small-town America in the 80's, and there certainly weren't many non-white people living in those areas at that time. I kid you not when I say I grew up in a small town in the 80's and I never saw a single non-white person so much as walk down the street. Political correctness shouldn't take precedence over narrative.

grace i completely respect you and love your work, but i completely disagree with number 5. heres why, i don't think forcing diversity would really promote getting the best acting talent. if 10 new characters are put in that are all of different color, and were the best for the job thats fine, but forcing the duffers to do something away from their vision is horrible for where the show could go.

Most all of the (white) child actors and teens are unknowns. I'm sure that if they wanted a diverse cast they'd have no trouble finding it. But I do agree that forcing diversity to get more people to watch never really turns out that good but I trust the duffer brothers to at least try

I think shes always looking at it from more of a business and global appeal point of view, especially with movies. I think the issue is people project their feelings to what she suggests and interpret it as forcing the idea on diversity in film or television. No need to be concerned though, the show is doing well so I don't think the Duffers have those types of concerns, all that matters to them is making a great story.

the problem with her comment though - is that's the EXACT reason people hated the fucking EWOKS and the GUNGANS. they were only added to freakin appeal to a certain type of person and sell merch. you don't need to add "types of people" to make it more appealing to broaden your audience. you let the damn script do that.

Tell that to the people and companies investing hundreds of millions of dollars on these projects. If you put up that type of money best believe you'd wana sell merch to maximize profit margins and sometimes even if the script is good that doesn't necessarily translate to making a profitable project. It's just business 101.

The way they set up Will coughing out that worm and suddenly travelling to the Upside Down, I believe that he is either being used as a host or he is turning into a monster like the one that kidnapped him. Perhaps in season 2 it is obvious that something will motivate them to go back to the Upside Down (to search for Eleven due to some signal she sends them confirming she's still alive, a new monster popping up, etc) and somewhere in the middle of the season, they will discover what is happening with Will and at that time it may be a bit too late as he may not be in control of his own actions and may very well become a threat (a thing which I wouldn't like them to do)

If Hollywood would quit worrying about diverse casts, remakes and scripts that pander all 4 quadrants ....they should focus all their intention on a good script FIRST! Then we can move forward. Case in point.....Dont Breathe and Hell or High Water.....2 strong films released at the end of the summer that are far more interesting that most of what we got since May 1st

Watching for the first time and reporting back from the future (spoilers galore): They changed all of the episode titles except for the first one. It did not premiere in summer 2017, but on October 27, 2017, to tie in with Halloween. Eleven was not the Madmax of the Upside Down. Will did not gain control of his Upside Down-entering abilities. They took control of him. Eleven got more powerful, but no pet monster for her (that was Dustin's thing). Same monsters, but now in a pack. Things got better for the Byers, but then they got a lot worse. Hopper is still sheriff and never forgot his hat anywhere. Hopper and Joyce are still not officially together. There was more diversity. Lucas' parents and sister have minor roles. And the "Lost Brother" became the lost sister, and was played by a woman of color.

Show was.. interesting for sure. Not a fan of horror, but it also includes drama, thriller, fantasy, etc. I ended up watching it because people around me wouldn't stop mentioning it. My gist on the show is.. it adds three sub plot points per episode (1 character development, 1 horror, 1 "stranger thing" happens) and that's the show. Reason you can't just watch one episode and formulate a opinion over it is.. it doesn't let you.

+Emma Shipe Yes, Wes Studi, he's one of the most famous Native American actors out there. He played in one of my favorite movies, The Last of the Mohicans as Magua (the main villain). Even he couldn't save that show from it's terrible rushed ending though, such a shame too cause Penny Dreadful season 1 and 2 were excellent.

I'm black, honestly lol. And I didn't really notice the "lack of diversity" until my 3rd time watching the season. I was too into the story and characters too care about the characters' races. Furthermore, let be real. Small town Indiana, even in 2016, is mostly white.

I don't want to see Will have control over traveling to the upside down because I feel like if he has that power, the upside loses its mystery or spookiness. I'm not really sure if this show needs more "diversity" as it's a bit of a love letter to 80s kids/teen movies. But they could have easily have made Matarazzo's character hispanic. Making him half-mexican would be super easy/lazy. What if Barb isn't actually dead but being turned into another one of the creatures. Maybe the same thing had started happening to Will, but it got stopped before he transformed all of the way, so now he's more of a hybrid.

Totally agree with your number 1. In fact, the only thing that really held me back from watching it when it first came out was that it seemed too much like one of those 80s movies in terms of lack of diversity. I really hope they can change that in season 3, but I don't think the show in general will change much in an effort to hold on to its style.

I'm all for diversity. Like, what about Asian representation in media? Almost nonexistent and often stereotypical. But I seriously doubt that there would be a whole lot of Asians living in a tiny 80s town in Indiana. It just wouldn't make sense in the setting to include a token "diverse" character.

What is with the parasite Will coughed up? Will it grow and latch onto someone else or an animal and grow into a dangerous creature? Or is he a "breader" for these things and is a threat himself? Is he a pending threat for season two? I think a tragic (but very good) twist would be that Will is rescued from the Upside Down, but he doesn't come back as he originally was.

I was very upset when Barb was killed. Her look and personality was one I could relate to and seeing a character like that go so early really hurt! However, we do not know the extent of the powers of The Upside Down. Could Barb be resurrected? Or would that hurt the charm of her character having that "Boba Fett" feel of having little screen time but a lot of fans? Either way, I am so excited for season two!

Rather than more diversity I would think it would be interesting to expand the back stories and personalities of some characters like Lucas not being the a total skeptic or stubborn, Winona's character showing some more strength as will, and maybe showing more family members of the children if more diversity means seeing Lucas' parents that would be cool but for all we know he could totally be adopted let's see what happens
