That warning only applys where the Strasburg and Amtrak right of way meet. They are correct in posting it.Too many people get too close to the Amtrak tracks while videoing or taking still pictures. Their trains unlike Strasburg trains are running at high speed and being electric operated on continuous welded rail run relatively quiet compared to the sounds the steam trains make. Keep a safe distance from the tracks and use a zoom feature to get the Amtrak/Strasburg pictures at the junction.

Its interesting that the sign used the original Amtrak font and not the current modern logo. The Stasburg RR is awesome and a must visit for any railfan.

I checked Lanco GIS website and Yes Amtrak owns all of the trackage. If you go 7:54 of the video, the Locomotive is at the approximant location where Strasburg's right of way begins. I also have to ask what will happen since the fenced "viewing" area is used for the RR's christmas tree sale.

Every railroad in the nation is private property. Railroad rights of way are very dangerous places. The no trespassing signs are there to serve as a reminder that railroad rights of way are private property and to make us aware of the dangers involved. It takes approximately 1 mile to stop a train traveling at 40 mph.

That's what happens when a few boneheads screw it up for the majority. People think a train can stop on a dime . It'll never happen in a million years. You don't need to get that close to the tracks to film!

Most railfans are careful and very respectful. I said most. Sadly these things happen because the railroad (Amtrak in this case) for insurance purposes and for liability issues, must take these steps. It could be worse.

Strasburg Rail Road is not, repeat NOT, in Ronks PA, which is some 5 miles away. Mail delivery on Strasburg Rd. is from Ronks but both Strasburg R R and RR Museum of PA are just outside the borough of Strasburg. Historical note: Strasburg RR exists because the Philada. and Columbia RR was built via Ronks, not Strasburg . The Strasburg RR was built to connect Strasburg with the P&C (now Amtrak)

Considering that AMTRAK go past at 100mph fair comment. Think yourselves lucky that there isn't a 6 foot plus high fence in between the tracks.

As best I can tell that area there at the sign is at the Amtrak main line. To me a interesting place to take pictures, but also not a very convenient place to hang out.

I'm sure the signs were ordered by the railroads insurance company

I mean I kind understand they don't want to be liable of some idiot goes on the tracks and gets hit so basically a stupid few ruined it for the rest of us who rest of us who respect the rules

@ that’s true, didn’t think about that.

So why don't they build a place for rail fans to watch and take pictures? Something like what's in Acworth, GA and the Cordele Railway Park in Cordele, Ga. That way they know where the rail fans are and that they are safely away from getting injured.

@carlstypinski15172 ай бұрын
@@emagenevanhorn1543 if you knew anything about railroading, strassburg is on a siding track, on amtrak property, next to the amtrak mainline to either Harrisburg or Philadelphia.
