Seriously, not bad. But first, you have to be with NO army to make those horses charge only at you, but... ... Which armies only come with horse units? Also... ... If you lock yourself in the castle to take out the defenders by shooting one by one, this is really too long for me. I rather use 200 men to break in upon a 500 men castle, or at times 700 to 800 men defending, and slash them with the falx from behind quickly. Once the morale falls enough, they will flee. And it will be less time and more time for other quests. Entertaining tips, but not so realistic. I gave the video a like for the entertainment value. Hehehehe~

10:35 just a quick note, to speed up killing the infantry and to maximize rout, try taking the stones out of the gatehouse to throw on their heads from the walls. Since it has AOE, you’ll kill upwards of 10 each time you throw one into the blob. Some castles, primarily imperial ones, have the nafta jugs, which can knock out even more. This is NOT the case if you use the ammo for a catapult on the ramparts. For some reason those stones will only ever knock out one guy at a time regardless of the proximity of other troops.
@Strat-Guides2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I noticed that too, I think it was 1.7.2 they nerfed the rocks! It would only down 1 opponent and do 5 - 10 damage to a few others around them. I'm still not sure if that is a bug or intentional??
@bladfadsfblaadsfsadf9002 жыл бұрын
@@Strat-Guides I guess it would be way too OP if you could just forget about using the catapults and have four times as many stones to use at ladders and siege towers, so they have to be “activated” by the catapult to get their damage potential. My favorite way to siege a Castle is to go in with 4 fire mangonels, no ram, no siege tower. put all melee units on hold at the start and let the range pick people off in the walls and man the mangonels to shell the enemy. By the time the mangonels are out of ammo a good half of the defenders are dead. The problem is some troops keep trying to put the ladders up which gets them killed, but it also draws the defenders to the ladders, giving the mangonels some juicy targets.
@Strat-Guides2 жыл бұрын

Another good use for horse-strafing is during (the first round of) a tournament. When there are lost of cavs in the round, they usually have a traffic-jam situation in the arena near an obstacle (for example the space between the broken-down cart and the wall). If you are equipped with a pole-arm it is much better to turn your horses-head towards the middle of the arena and then strafe towards the traffic-jam. When close enough, start pricking anything you can prick and the moment you see the jam come apart, give your horse the spurs and ride away to 'safety'. This works well because you don't have your horses-head in the way of your pole-arm (pricking to the side is easier aiming than pricking towards the front) and you can get out of the jam whenever you want to (turning your horse around and then ride off takes a lot more time).

Also, it looks like for the units lost on breaking in uses a taleworld math where each unit variety gets a dice roll, not based on overall unit numbers. Essentially each unit that gets removed from army would be taken away after throwing a dice roll on unit variety (so if you were to have 10 unit variety with 1 good troop, chance of something taken away from that troop would be 10% unless the unit variety decrease. This should be testable by just savescumming and using break in option over and over until you think you have decent number of data.

As of patch 1.8, kicks are much easier to land against an AI opponent since for some reason in this patch the AI loves to get as close as to you regardless of the equipped weapon reach. If you have a weapon with fast swinging speed, a kick quickly followed by an overhead strike is almost always a guaranteed free hit. Also when fighting outnumbered against shielded infantry, there's a chance that an attack gets blocked by a shield held by another infantry behind the one you are targeting. This happens more often when using a weapon with longer reach and not spacing out far enough.
@Strat-Guides2 жыл бұрын
Lol that's true, they are like rabbit animals trying to bite you lol Good point about the overhead, it seems to be the most reliable. Actually, you can chamber the swing before you kick, then release it almost at the same time the kick lands and it's impossible to block. The shields from the side/behind blocking is so annoying! I think it used to be a little bit easier, seems like the AI archers are a bit more accurate now but it's still doable with a good set or armor :) I think certain towns are even better since they don't have archer groups sitting near the entrance and you can get into the walls without taking 1000 shots lol Thanks for watching!

I accidentally used the matador technique when I climbed a rock to get a better view of the battlefield, and the enemy horse commander began to attack me. I was shielded by a reliable shield, and it (commander not a shield) crashed like a fool. this was my most cunning tactic, my troops came from the rear, through the forest, and then this. had fun heartily

If you spam the kick button (i think its E originally) instead of doubletapping W while sitting on a horse you get to max speed even faster than just double tapping. Also you dont have to hold z for dismounting, just tapping works.

You are really good. Hahahahaha... ... As a commander not with game mechanics, I basically advance a horde of horse archers right before the enemies, shoot them down while cavalry is charging from behind, usually at the flank and while a column of infantry is in front of the horse archers to waylay the enemies' initial advance... ... After their morale got a gap, then the slaughtering starts... ... No tricks, just like that. So my army consists usually about 20% infantry, 30% horse archers and 40% to 50% cavalry, taking alongside cavalry prisoners to replenish lost cavalry troops. Whenever possible a major charge be, my cavalry will charge from the side not the front or back, but directly left or right of you when you are facing the front, so that their entire line is 'eaten' from the tip and a bigger hole in morale is possible. This is when the infantry will also be charging to make sure the enemies will be facing them. Quickly they lose their flank and we reach their back on horses, and enemies find themselves sandwiched, they shield their fronts but expose their backs to me. And chop chop chop away, the morale of enemies falls so fast... ... 1500 troops be defeated. Then the horse archers will charge after infantry and cavalry, and usually picking up the escaping troops. Your first tip is good, hilarious, however... ... I can't do that with an army of my own there. Hahahahaha... ... But it was quite a good show. The AI seems to be responding by learning my tricks... ... but military formations and advances are very 'dead', it is very hard to break the way I advance on AI troops. Best when they resort to walls formation, I will just let the archers soften them up, then forcing them to charge. And my cavalry will be charging directly from the side when they are charging to my infantry layer to reach the horse archers. I never will use a bow, so... ... and I will not use archers but only horse archers. Running shooting units when AI will have a good chance aiming for the horses makes horse archers like some tanks when horses can regenerate in next battle for free. And I always use a falx, before the armies clash to take on the generals and the enemy cavalry. Best weapon in the game. Your tip is fun, but not realistic.

Tried adding mods to the game and now the formations are fucked. The scald or wedge formation has them standing in loose formation. Don’t know how to fix it.

Oh wow I've never heard of that one before! Deleting them should do the trick unless it installed files outside of the mod somehow?

Yissss, finally Strat is soloing a castle! And you even used the same castle (or any of the 20 that use the same layout lol)! Also... what about mounted axe tips? From my experience axes are the best mounted weapons, specially vs other mounted units.
@Strat-Guides2 жыл бұрын
Lol how about a world conquest solo...? I have no clue if it's possible but it sounds goofy and interesting lol I like a long 2H axe or 175 - 200 length swingable polearm, BUT I honestly think thrusting polearms that can couch lance are slightly better. They don't do as much damage, but I feel like it's much safer to use (the point of attack is in front of our horse, swing weapons we have to be right next to them) so the overall damage throughout a big battle is more. Plus you can use a shield with thrusting polearms!
@isphus2 жыл бұрын
World conquest solo by taking all castles is impossible because people will just make multiple sieges and you can't garrison very well. Its actually how Yeethild's run went: i got two more clans to help with the defense, solo sieged almost every castle, and chopped heads as needed to keep enemy numbers low. You can do it by chopping heads until you're the last noble alive and just inherit it, but that involves no sieging at all. That's how my autoresolve-only run went. Autoresolving sieges is a big no, so i just ran around with 200-ish cavalry killing everyone. As for the axes: my experience with couching is very meh, but axes can shred archer lines and give you a pretty good damage vs other cav. That being said, i do agree couching is safer.
@isphus2 жыл бұрын
P.S.: I strongly recommend doing 2-3 solo castles on any given run just for the athletics/bow/crossbow exp. But they get repetitive after a while, so i only do them afterward on emergencies such as if a larger army is about to break the siege and we need to hide inside. This might also be a patch thing, but i can't hit people with ballistae on castles anymore. On some cities its possible (and glorious!) but never on castles for some reason. I think the AI started getting closer to the walls on 1.7.3.
