There probably is no greater warfare than to promulgate the gospel that saves and brings light to the lost. If everyone in an area becomes saved, what power would ANY entity, regardless of rank, have over the holy spirit within us who is greater than he who is of the world? I think pursuit of "theology" and questing after solving biblical mysteries (like the timing of the Rapture) has become the new idol of the Christian church. It's like Michael Heiser said years ago. The great commission isn't to develop your theological arguments to perfection and solve the mystery of the rapture, it's to disseminate the good news that Christ has brought to those that are lost and don't know it. Your ability to articulate your theological position in an argument with another denomination doesn't save the lost sheep that has a unique spirit made by God that he wants to reclaim from the destroyer, it's the gospel and the work of the holy spirit. There is no greater miracle than the miracle of salvation (which is an eternal miracle, no other miracle can remotely compare to it; it is literally the only miracle that is immeasurable). Paul said he didn't come in with eloquence trying to sway minds with his theological gymnastics, he sought nothing more than to know and preach the Lord crucified (heavily paraphrased, but that's the gist).

I have been through some wacky stuff as a missionary and I would never pray alone against a principality. However, as a group I do think there might be circumstances where, as a group, you can do that. For instance, the entire church in Argentina was praying because the government was trying to legalize abortion. Some prayed against what is clearly a principality behind such a law. In fact, I walked around the government house and did so with others. The next day the law was not approved. However, the entire church was praying for this situation across every denomination. As Christians we do also have authority over principalities as well but you better have a calling to take it on, and if you take it on alone that is a bad idea. The real spiritual warfare is to make disciples though. Let’s make the main thing the main thing.

Swede here! Have read basically everything by Skjell Sjöberg (pronounced "Shell"). He and some friends went to pray outside the free masons hc in Stockholm, they prayed for exposure. Just days after they were there a excavator that accidentally broke the wall of the building from outside, and old human skulls poured out from that hole in the wall. Yes. That made the news and started the conversation in the secular media about the shady business masons were involved in. He had some legit testimonies, but also some theological wobbly ideas. Interestingly, towards the end of his life. He made a turn from the strategic warfare. Took down all the maps and prophetic-battle-trinkets he decorated his prayer room with and keyed in on worship, playing worship 24 to prepare for the glory of God to fill the earth. His last book was on worship and how it invites the glory. That's a bit of a change of focus.

I remember during covid watching a number of videos from Randy Clark on his channel about this. He talked about a revival leader in S America that would do this kind of thing and when they cast out the principality of an area, would see lots of people coming to Jesus. But they had hundreds of people from the church praying for the minister and each other, while he was doing this. The minister would spend most of his time praising Jesus, it was only when he felt the power of God come on him so strongly, that he might die, that he then went after the ‘powers’.

Wimber spoke out strongly against the practice of speaking to principalities and powers. He put the kibosh on this practice at a Conference back in 90-91. It was popularized by teachings from Larry Lea and Francis Frangipane around that time. He talked about the danger of going beyond what scripture teaches into areas that we have very little understanding. He also said that the practice of standing in proxy to pray for someone else was an occult practice.

@@Dday31 I assume you were responding to the second part, regarding proxy prayer? In Scripture, intercessory prayer is modeled as one or more persons praying for another person, lifting up their needs or circumstances before the throne of grace to a loving, listening God. The common practice of "proxy prayer," where a proxy sits in for the intended recipient, and that which is done over the proxy (they suppose) is then mystically transferred to the intended recipient, is modeled after occult practice.

“Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of idols. So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the devout persons, and in the marketplace every day with those who happened to be there. Some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers also conversed with him. And some said, “What does this babbler wish to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a preacher of foreign divinities”-because he was preaching Jesus and the resurrection. And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new teaching is that you are presenting? For you bring some strange things to our ears. We wish to know therefore what these things mean.” Now all the Athenians and the foreigners who lived there would spend their time in nothing except telling or hearing something new. So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: “Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. For as I passed along and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: ‘To the unknown god.’ What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in temples made by man, nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything. And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for “‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, “‘For we are indeed his offspring.’ Being then God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”” Acts 17:16-31 ESV He preached the gospel.

Do it by Faith alone and not for people to see but because of your dedication to the Lord or God‘s not gonna heal anyone for you if you’re doing it just for the crowd it’s got to be from the heart and when it happens at the right place at the right time Revival will happen. I think there’s room for discernment and words of wisdom. One house always stood out to me, turns out it was a brothel, but by no means a Prince of Persia thing. Different cultures have different values and worship different sins. The sins we worship define the demons we have. Demons live inside the human heart. Powerful demonic beings (like Satan) can enter many human hearts as shown by the Bible. Before assessing the demonic powers in different cultures, I would first compare the culture of the churches. Have the culture idols penetrated into the church culture? Are the churches in Asia and Europe for example different from America based solely on cultural preferences or based also on sin idols in each of these cultures? Sometimes, looking at another Christian culture may help us find the idols in our own. After all, Jesus didn't come to cast out idols from pagan nations, but he came first to Israel, the people of God. If we evangelize, are we discipling Spirit-led followers of Jesus, true to the Bible, or a version of our own sins?
