I'm trying to improve my writing (lyrics mostly, but also creative writing in general). When I discovered phonetics I thought I discovered to answers to life, the universe and everything! I suddenly became aware of how words link together, how the movement of the mouth and tongue allow words to flow. After studying the subject to an absurd level, I realized it wasn't the full answer, something was missing. That's how I found this channel. I recently discovered metonymy and I feel as though a beam of light came down from the heavens! It's the missing piece of the puzzle I've been looking for. That's how I found your channel. I'm just working my way through all your videos now and I'm finding gold in every one of them. Sorry I can't give you more cash (I'm poor) but thanks for making such fantastic and informative content.

Goodness--thank you a whole heap and a half! That's very kind. Actually, your experience resonates with my own: I studied linguistics in college but ultimately felt like something was missing. Then I stumbled into rhetoric, and here we are! Very cool that you're finding things you're looking for--I'm just grateful to be a part of it!

Are there a set of words that would make a sentence more persuasive?

It's hard to say whether there are specific words that would work in every situation since it depends on who your audience is and what your persuasive goals are. However, words that motivate readers or suggest taking action (instead of just conveying information) will tend to make your sentences work more persuasively
