Unhappy people make great consumers… as a young mom I was trying to fill a void with stuff. Now with 3 kids decluttering my home has made me so much happier than I ever could have made myself with all the stuff
@JenniferGee-t4k4 күн бұрын
You two are such an affiirmative presence. It is 5 times better than either one of you alone. When you are both there, it feels like I'm at home. Thank you! Dawn, I now follow your channel because of this episode. I love your spirit so much! You are giving me support and hope in a seemingly hopeless time.
@CHSwildcats194 күн бұрын
To comment on how unhappy people are great consumers: I tell people allllll the time, "Wherever you go, there you are." People change jobs, relationships, locations, chasing something that's going to make them happy but then are never happy - because in the end, it is still them and they haven't worked on themselves. Until you fix what is bothering you internally, you will never find the perfect job, the perfect partner, the perfect location or true happiness, because wherever you go, there you are.

Exactly! I tell my students the same thing. No matter where you go… you take you along.

Great ! I grew up outside of the US and did not have all the luxuries and toys children have here. I must say that I am so thankful my parents taught us the importance of life: people, family ….not material things. I have great memories of my childhood!

Ever since Dawn and Diana recommended reading fiction before bed, I started doing that. At first, I hunted through my fiction stash. Perelandra wasn't really a good choice for me. One day, I looked up at the Louisa May Alcott my grandmother had given me a very long time ago. They were on a shelf as decor. Finally started reading them. Fabulous! Love them

I use tea light candles in a mason jar as tabletop candlelight. Just add a small handful of pebbles to a pint sized jar and stick the tea light inside. You can reuse the stones and jars year after year and just replace the inexpensive tea lights. I sometime decorate the jars with ribbon for weddings or holiday themes.

I knew Dawn was talking about the winter garden!!! That book TORE ME APART!!! It’s one of Kristin’s older books and it is gut wrenching. The Women (her newest I believe) was PHENOMENAL!

@frugalfitmom I have had 2 houses with LVP flooring, they do scratch if you slide something heavy across it, but I think most floorinf will, for our living areas in general it’s been great. I got waterproof LVP, and love that I don’t have to worry about making sure I don’t miss any random snow melt puddles. Hardwood and not waterproof LVP will warp if a puddle you didn’t know about is left for a few hours. I do regret our color choice, we put down the first LVP flooring in 2019, and went with a gray LVP flooring, which we liked at the time but definitely dates the floor. I’d recommend going with wood colors more similar to natural wood, warmer and lessens that risk.

Yes and you can put felt on the bottom of all your furniture legs or whatever would scrape when you move furniture and not worry about scratching. We have hardwood and that's what we do

My sons were full-on pigs when they were young. Clothes etc., just covered their bedroom floor! Now they are out on their own. Just have to remember it's not life and death.❤

I love the two of u,, I’m still amazed how things I learned in high school, & life it self, u two have it together & share with fan families, keep up so others will enjoy life more by learning to be frugal, how to shop, save & actually not need some much stuff. People will feel so free& can really do more family things. I wish the school boards would take out some things & add those things, banking, house care, saving, frugal living type things,in stead of thinking always needing newer, better, when life would be so much simpler, trying ur ideas! Have a BLESSED & CHRISTMAS & HAPPY NEW YEAR, can’t wait to see what u two come up with to make 2025 easier,more fun,more free to live more peaceful with family!❤🎉😊

I have a preteen girl and I’d love to hear more about bonding and building their self esteem apart from shopping and the “in” brands. Like Dawn said she wanted to cheer her daughter up by getting her pants she wanted. What are other ways to spend quality time together and to make them feel confident without material items?
@joyceclark81635 күн бұрын
Set an example to her by the way you see yourself..don't put yourself down..whether by your physical attributes or your educational attributes..or your accomplishments..give her compliments..build her up by any means..just spending time together..laughing, talking..watch a movie together..take an geniune interest in her..go for a walk together...depending on her age .if you both like to have your nails done..do it together at home..cooking and baking together..gives you together time and teaches her life skills..just stay involved in her life..not in a helicopter way..everyone needs their space..you can find a happy medium..just always be there for her..she will feel that she is valued and loved..don't put down her opinions..be open with her..
@MidwestSue9875 күн бұрын
Along with the above suggestions, ask her opinion about a variety of topics. Keep asking questions, it will get her thinking and it lets her know that you value her thoughts, even if you don’t agree with them.

Yep! My husband and I have been binge watching Only Murders in the Building. Occasionally, I don’t care for some of the adult themes. I’m a very conservative person but it’s so creative and we laugh a lot. Martin Short and Steve Martin are hilarious. We only watch it together, so I can’t watch during week days when husband is at work. The funny thing is, I keep thinking I can’t watch this on my own so I’m going to have to watch all the Gilmore Girls on my own again this winter.

Interesting to learn and ponder what people have come through but no mention of the fact that it’s still happening. People in Gaza are going through their second winter with nothing. They’re being starved intentionally and have been eating sawdust for a year now. It’s great to read books and learn. The point of learning is to change and prevent it happening again. We shouldn’t have more of these books written about the things we’re watching happen live right now in Gaza.

Loved this!! I totally agree with the book opinions. Colleen Hoover and several others like her- exactly as you said! Poorly written, predictable. I always think these types are written as a script with movement directions. She went outside. She opened the door. She walked back inside. Ugh!! The covers of these are always big paint brush splashes. I’m the only one at my bookclub that doesn’t care for these script books. I agree that Kristen Hannah is so high quality! The Nightingale still stays with me years later.
