Same, I've decided to do some deep studying in mathematics and it's really cool of how many ways you have to think about a single problem, makes me think i'm stupid or something for not thinking differently :D
@leziehr2 жыл бұрын
in case you wonder how it even works, here it is: P% of x can be written as x(P/100) you can put x on the numerator since it’s a multiplication xP/100 you can rearrange it as P(x/100) and that’s why it works

Thanks Mr Woo! I've been watching your videos for quite some time now, but this is the first time I saw something I really wanted to comment on... I never before realised about commutativity of percentages. That makes the mental arithmetic so much easier! It was like a lightbulb going on in my head :) Thank you, thank you, thank you!

@Lailan he's teaching them percentages, they dont even know basic arithmetic.
@sayanghosh69963 жыл бұрын
@Lailan what else will i expect from him, hes a good teacher, he'll teach them things they should already know regardless. I am expecting the students to know the prerequisites before taking the class. If you're taking classes on percentages and tips on how to perform them faster then you should atleast know how multiplication works.
@sayanghosh69963 жыл бұрын
@Lailan ya he said in the beginning, that means they are SUPPOSED to know. That they have been taught that. But their responses clearly show half of them have no idea. I am not saying every student mind you, but the majority. If I had such a good teacher i would brush up on the previous lectures before attending the next one so that i can understand totally what he's teaching. Some of these student cant care less 😂

Hello Mr. Woo, I'm not sure if you would use this or thin kit is worth teaching (please let me know) or that you even read these. I taught myself in school (20+ years ago) how to do mental percentages by this: P% of X. I break everything down into nice easy multiples of 10. Using the last example (72% of 50), I divide everything by 10. This gives me 7.2 10%'s and 5. Then I multiply 5 by 7.2 giving me 36. If for example the percentage was 18.275% of 0.014325 I can still do it, it just needs a little more though behind it. Cheers for the videos, Charles
@andreynogueira74195 жыл бұрын
Yeah, essentially what you are doing is dividing both numerator and denominator by 10 since 1% = (1/10)/10, but you do it twice: 72% * 50 = (72 * 50) / 100 = (7.2 * 50) / 10 = (7.2 * 5) / 1 = 7.2 * 5 Another way of doing quite the same thing is to simplify a fraction: 72% * 50 = 72 * 50% = 72 * (50 / 100) = 72 / (100 / 50) = (7.2 * 10) / (10/50 * 10)
@charlescochran51035 жыл бұрын
@Jonathan De La Paz Sure. I just use 10% as almost anything can be figured out/broken down that way.
