This is a straight-forward and effective way of teach Wh- questions but how does it cover "What" questions that aren't about verbs? e.g. "What is her name?", "What do you have for lunch?" etc.

The goal of this program is to teach discrimination between the different 'wh questions'. The skill you're referring to is very important and would likely be taught in the context of comprehension - answering questions about a topic, picture, or story.

I would only teach "why" when a student is able to answer "what", "who", "where" and "when" and is able to answer them when presented randomly (i.e., discriminate the question). If a child is ready, still use visuals and teach systematically. Doing lots of experiments to figure out the "why" part also helps (make it less abstract). A program for answering 'wh questions' would be one part of a comprehensive ABA program. We recommend working with a BCBA to get the right program in place for your son!

You're very welcome! You can teach pronouns as "he/she" with similar steps of sorting, then receptive, then expressive. You can also teach "my/your" receptively and then expressively with items, body parts, and actions. It will likely be individualized for each student, with some needing it broken down even more and with text cues.
