I picked up stratego again . Man all i can say is the amount of knowledge you have is not normal. Immediately fell in love with your strategy and tips. Cheers

Thanks. The outcome was sweet! It's always nice when you think of a plan of attack that might work and it does. Try testing your plan first, if you can, to see how your opponent reacts. Sometimes you don't have the time or enough pieces to test the plan. Then implement the attack plan and hope you get the results you were looking for. Also, try to have several backup plans ready if your attack strategy fails. Forward planning is such an important part of playing Stratego well.

Those are the very rare situations where your general is stronger than your marshal, as no enemy piece can take out your general.

Your opponent made a comedy of errors in this game. 1) He wasted all of his scouts early and had none left when he truly needed them, which led to the spy trick. The execution was a thing of beauty. 2) He also wasted a Miner by putting it in an open lane in the front row where it would be easily taken. Forward Miner's should be hidden behind the lakes. 3)The thing that should have frustrated him the most was running his general into a bomb. 4) He was overly worried about losing his Major which allowed you to reveal his Marshall. He was a General & a Marshall down before he even revealed your Marshall, General, either Colonel or any Majors.

Bad things usually happen when your Marshal gets revealed early. Many beginners wrongly think the game is over when they go down a Major, since most don't know how to play when they are behind in pieces.

@@strategotacticsandtips5636 his actual downfall was putting the Miner in the open on the front row. That and misplaying his Scouts. Both of these pieces should be used later in the game.

i havent played this since i had the boardgame from my childhood and i always thought the bomb was removed if anything other than a miner hit it .

Why did the bomb at min 17:50 not go away When the General ran into it? Can somebody explain?

Only a miner can remove a bomb from the board. You need a good memory so you don't run into a bomb twice during a game. This can happen if you play lots of games in a row.

Vietnamese invent this in 1982. We play when we are kid. Sadly we don't get the patent.

I have the board game and my pieces are in reverse to yours my spy is 2 where as yours is 9 my marshal is 10 while yours is 1 and my 1 is a spy so on and so forth ......I wonder why it was changed

You have the European version numbers of the game. I play with the American version because that's what I'm used to playing. At Stratego.com, you can choose what number version you want to play with. In my videos, I try to call out the specific rank of the pieces instead of numbers so viewers don't get confused.

It was Stratego.com. The site shut down because they did their game programming using Adobe Flash which is no longer supported by browsers. I hope in the future, they decide to make another site. I always wait until he loses the scouts. 50 % job done when he has 7/8 or 8/8 scouts out. Then he is blind.

It's risky moving the Spy out in the open early in the game. I don't play well when I lose my Spy. But most players don't expect you to move out the Spy when they have lots of scouts left. It's a risky gamble.
