My all time favorite mountain. When im on the peak and the pines covers with snow its spiritual sound just disapeers and the mountain speeks.

I grew up literally on the mountain my grandfather worked there since 1961 he was 86 when he passed, and they still kept him working until he couldn't anymore, he was one on the Original Stratton Mt Boys it was a dirt road when he started. I would be on lift as soon as it opened. Getting up at 4 having breakfast and headed to work with him till lifts closed and catching a ride home In those days we had straps only to keep our skis from going off without you

I guess the general rule in the US is that if there is just one section of a run that exceeds certain % then they have to label it black. Even if most of it is not.

I just don’t get how it’s black but it is a fun run

There is one section in the middle that probably reaches the level of black (at least for East Coast, haha), so for safety they have to call the whole run black. I think each resort decides these things slightly differently, just based on what the each mountains offers...

It looks like the side stance motion and quick broad arcs the snowboard enables the rider allows them to get through crowds on narrow trails easier. You had to be more cautious in following on the skis.

It's a perfect ride I've brought novices that picked up boards really quick from never ever ski or board to three days conquering fear of chair lifts heights and gondola's and within three days I've had complete beginners take this run. Only one I trusted there ability and picked up on it fast. I have a technique that is frowned upon at some locations but I put stomp pads between my bindings and just as a skydiver does a tandum jump I will have someone stand on my board and show them the motions of legs and hips and body weight displacement and I've successfully never had a younger student fail. Having that way to feel the hips and weight dispersement I've taught ever kid in my family and after two runs there strapped in ready to go and have handled this run. I will forever cherish this mountain and to me it's one of the majestic wonders of the world and I'm greatfull I've had the ability to spend a lot of time there. And I miss it every day

Seems that if just a small section of a trail is over certain % -- and even if the rest is not that steep -- it has to be labeled "black" in the US, just because of that one spot. Which on this trail is the middle part... there was one pitch that was steep-ish. :D
