I've never really listened to Alpensinfonie. What I noticed is its beautiful ending, for me it has Allan Pettersson vibes (or vice versa), thinking of his Symphonies 6-8, the darker parts. Or maybe the ending of the seventh.

@@TortuositWell people like what they like, but naming Petterson as preferance comes across to me as pretentious. It's like "Oh I only listen to Runrig or Fury in the Slaughtherhouse because mainstream isn't for me."

@Quotenwagnerianer No, I understand where you are coming from, but my point is the incredible beauty and tenderness and darkness - that IS Petterssons finale of the seventh. Listen to it, at best of course in context, and you can be eternally thankful. It's just by coincidence that I'm not into Strauss. So preference was probably the wrong word. So much to still explore, life is too short. But it's debatable. Sometimes I rather prefer Autechre - Confield, sometimes Shostakovich 8 (Sym and SQ). From the heart. As enthusiastic as I can be. Nothing pretentious at all.

6:35 Is the fanfare behind the scenes real or was it recorded? The wrong notes make it sound live. 😂 It's a joke, that fanfare is very difficult and it never comes out quite right.
