Filmed for the Sound Tracks: Quick Hits series by the Talbot Players in association with PBS Arts ( / soundtrackstv .
Written in 1858 after a trip to Russia, Johann Strauss' "Tritsch Tratsch Polka" is a jaunty, high-spirited affair and Yuja Wang obviously delights in playing it. Watch her smile at the end. If you'd like to see her perform live, Yuja Wang will be playing this April at Avery Fisher Hall with the New York Philharmonic and in Atlanta with the symphony there. In June she returns to San Francisco, where conductor Michael Tilson Thomas has been one of her strongest supporters.

The main point is that Cziffra himself would adore her performance, and be delighted to hear that his transcription is still played and being popularized by her.

I remember Harold C. Shoenberg´s comment about Horowitz: "Horowitz was not guilty of have a tremendous technique, as a young beautiful lady was not guilty when every male turn on to watch her". I can say something similar about her. Yuja Wang is not simply a beautiful young lady who plays the piano. She is a truly gifted artist who will give to us in the following years many great musical moments. And shows to us how the modern marketing manners are 100% compatible with the fine arts.

Rafael Teles No, they are not - they are unusual long fingered for her size and very powerful - her pinky looks even stronger than or at least equal (the muscle) to Martha Argerichs. And she has a very economic way of playing - all her muscles work together for her and there is no noticeable unnecessary tension.

+Martin Singer I find her performance fascinating. Some people don't. Under another video for the same piece played on stage, someone commented that her performance was sub-par and that she shouldn't be attacking pieces like that and leaving them to Hamelin, Volodos, Berezovsky and a few others... Any thoughts?
@martinsinger9886

jimmyjay122 I am fascinated as well. The most fascinating for me is her totally natural and effortless playing which gives her complete freedom of forming what she plays in a natural and convincing way. And I don't judge and compare artists. never. I like some more than others, but that is totally subjective and no judgement at all. And I like Mme Wangs playing very much

Hmmm have you played this?, this piece could be placed in the same level of Liszt paganinni's etudes. Let's have this clear the composer is the creator but the interpreter is encharged of keeping the piece alive. The interpreter should take more credit because that's what they play for, Beethoven had the credit for his pieces during his times, but I think he wouldn't mind sharing it with others. Rachmaninoff often praised Horowitz for how well he played Rachminoff's pieces, who gets the credit?
