This performance might be a fluke, never to be repeated. Zimmerman's crystal clarity and Bernstein's interpretation are a gift to humanity. If I had to choose one piece of music over everything else in the world this might be it, but only this particular performance. I've heard others that don't come anywhere close. Even the recording was top notch.

Truly amazing. However the greatest interpretation to me is that of Rubinstein, the piano genius kzbin.info/www/bejne/gWOYl42IrMeYfa8feature=shared. Listen to the subtile cadence of the opening notes of this adagio that make all the difference. The Jerusalem orchestra is slightly weaker than this one but nothing compares to Rubinstein's instinctive, heartbreaking and flying play

To be honest, I didn't know Richard Stilgoe was a concert pianist. I'm new to all this classical business and just taking a tour around what's been recommended to me and thus far, this is absolutely top top of the tree. I can't believe this piece if music came from a single persons mind.
