Thank you for making the mistake with the berries and the whip cream. It makes us normal people feel better bout or mistakes....lol

Beautiful! If people don't want to use the gelatin they can also use instant clear jel which is a modified food starch. Sometimes under the brand name Ultra Gel. I use it to stabilize my whipped cream and add 1 tablespoon per cup of cream half way through the whipping.
@JustJanet876 жыл бұрын
Noreen's Kitchen interesting suggestion! What's the purpose of stabilizing the whipped cream? Is it simply to add more form to the whipped cream? Does the gelatin or clear gel modify the flavor at all?
@noreenskitchenchannel6 жыл бұрын
Without stabilization, the whipped cream will deflate and turn into a runny mess. Adding gelatin does not effect the flavor at all and neither does the clear jel. I use instant clear jel because you can use it in hot or cold applications and it can be added right away. It does not need blooming. It is not a substitute for gelatin, in the sense that you cannot make gelled desserts with it, but it is great for stabilizing whipped cream as well as thickening cold pie fillings, gravies and even to add when baking a fruit pie to tighten up the juices and have them not be so runny. Hope that helps!

This, 6:50, THIS is why I watch Sarah! She makes mistakes, she's human, you're not "calculated", you cook realistically, like you would in your own kitchen. I love that there is a show host who not only makes real life mistakes but can laugh at herself too. You're not camera perfect and are not harsh on yourself like so many show hosts, and it makes me feel better when I make mistakes in the kitchen ❤ Too, as a young Jewish woman it is nice to have a role model in the kitchen like you to look up to and know success is attainable. Keep on keeping it real 😊

I had no idea that my ingredients should be room temperature. That is an awesome tip! I also like how you explained what bloom meant. I have to give you props for having to use the mixer from that back so we could see. That isn’t easy. Great video! I think this is going to be a fun summer cake.

What if, after cutting the cake in half, you inverted the top, strained the strawberry juice and let it soak into both layers before assembling as directed above. Then you have two flavor infused, moist layers. Love you, as always, Sarah!

Emprecita Cruz yes you can. I believe there are canned peaches that are already sliced. And since Sarah used macerated strawberries, you can use the syrups from the can instead so you dont have to macerate the peaches

A TINY bit of elbow grease will bring this together by hand.....you CAN make cakes without a stand mixer people!! It takes more effort to scrape everything down than it would to mix this by hand....and, its easier to control (without a split batter)

Why are so many American recipes suddenly using Kosher salt? If its not a regular pantry item for Americans, wouldn’t it be better to use regular salt? According to a video i saw, you cannot use the equivalent quantity of regular salt, you need to use much less regular salt.

Can I use Agar Agar instead of Gelatin?
@RichieLeeParker6 жыл бұрын
How much agar agar to replace the powdered gelatine?
@jazzpoet19746 жыл бұрын
Usually, it's just the same amount, but acidic things like strawberries can cause the agar to break down and not set properly. This can be countered by cooking the strawberries first, but that would take away the "freshness" of this dessert. That being said, it might work out okay, or you could just skip the whole step, and whip some cream cheese instead. Happy cooking!

I'm curious as to why Sarah didn't just build the cake on the cake stand instead of on the cutting board, then risking disaster having to lift/move it. A couple of boo-boos at the end there. :/ It also would have been nice to see a cut slice of the cake with all those berries. Why doesn't this channel do that anymore??

@kitchentimewithdad36886 жыл бұрын
Krystalteao, Kosher salt tends to be a little less salty than sea salt. You should be able to use unsalted butter just fine. I would recommend that, especially if you were going to use sea salt instead.
